Profile
Gingersprout was born to two cats by the names of Olive, and Rosemary, alongside her sister, Ivy. She originally went by the name Hazel. Hazel adored her little family, especially her mother, Rosemary, who would always tell her stories of her life before she had kits. Stories of travel, and whimsy. They lived this way for a while, the four of them tucked within a hollowed-out tree log. Prey ran well enough to sustain them, and Ivy and Hazel were growing and learning a lot by the day.
It was a calm day before the storm came, which is why the torrent of rain and crackles of lightning was so surprising to the family. Olive was out hunting when the rain had started to come down, Rosemary and the kits waited hours for him to return. He never did. Rosemary just tucked her kits closer as the storm raged on, and on. It continued throughout the night and well into the next day. Now weaned from the milk, the kits needed prey. Without another cat to go get it, Rosemary left to go hunt once the storm had calmed.
. . . It was taking a long time, so Ivy and Hazel decided that they would go track down their mother with minimal skills in scents and how to even track them. It wasn’t long before the kits got lost in the winding unmarked paths between trees and foliage. The two were terrified but persisted as they weren’t sure of the way back either. At some point, Hazel wandered too far away from her sister. She backtracked but couldn’t find the other kit anywhere. So she continued on her way through the forest, everything becoming more and more unfamiliar. She happened upon another rogue, who felt pity for the small kit and offered a portion of their meagre catch- a sodden vole. Hazel accepted. She then insisted she must continue, to find either her sister or her mother.
Hazel continued for a while after the kind rogue and the vole, unsure about the direction or where she was heading. Because of her uncertainty and a certain penchant for having her head in the clouds, she didn’t realise how far from home she truly was as she wandered her way into PineClan territory, tripping down a bank and hitting her head as the fog overwhelmed her.
When she came to, she was so hungry, that her paws led her deeper into the fog. Memories were blurry, she couldn’t quite recall who she was, or who the cats in her vague memories were. With how fast everything occurred, she barely could process meeting the other kits or being taken back to PineClan.
She accepted the new name of Gingerkit and joined PineClan as a kit. Eager to please, she attached herself to the caretakers.
Gingerkit grew close to the other kits her age, especially those brought into the clan with her. Her apprenticeship was delayed, however, and she remained in the nursery with Dandelionkit even after the others had ranked up already. Soon, she found out that she would become the new medic apprentice, a rank she appreciated greatly and wanted to do well in desperately.
Gingerpaw enjoyed learning about healing and StarClan from Spiderthorn, but she did feel slightly isolated from the other apprentices as they laughed over training memories that she did not experience with them. As she grew, she threw herself into her training, wanting to make her mentor and Robinfrost both proud with her skill and knowledge.
