Maki was born to the noble and respected Ichikawa family. Located in the country of Yolima. She was the eldest child, with Sai being her younger brother. From the moment Maki was born, her family was extremely controlling. The children were under an incredibly strict upbringing. They got the very best schooling, which Maki excelled at. While Maki didn't enjoy her strict and routine life, she made the best of it. It wasn't until she was older though, that she learned what her family truly had in store for her. On her eighteenth birthday, Maki was shipped away to another country. The country of Sanctus Halisa. A place that many thought only to be a rumor, tucked away high on a snowy mountain top. The countries population was dwindling, so select noble families from other nations, were asked to send people over to help with the problem. Maki is sure her family got a small fortune off that decision.

Upon arriving in the country of Sanctus Halisa, Maki was given a small home to live in. As well as a small sum of cash to start her new life here. Her new job? To meet noble or high ranking men, in hopes to marry and start a family. While Maki wasn't thrilled at the idea, she knew that this was always probably going to be her life. Weather it was at her home, or in a new country. One day, a man named Owen Ryder ordered for her services. Though it was not for himself, but for a friend of his. Kinsley Abbott. A body guard to the royal family.

It would seem this was not the first time Ryder has done this sort of thing though. Ryder wanting his friend to find love, so would send women to his friends home often. Kinsley apologizing to Maki about the whole situation. Maki though, found the entire situation incredibly amusing. Insisting to stay for a bit, and make him some tea. So that it was at least not a waste of all their time. Kinsley, surprisingly, agreed to it. The two of them chatting the night away.

After that night, Maki couldn't stop thinking of Kinsley. There was just something so irresistibly charming about the man, that she couldn't shake. She decided to seek him out, this time of her own choice. It would also seem Kinsley felt the same. Thus leading to a relationship that was both casual, but also serious. After many nights together, Maki eventually realizes that she's pregnant. At first she felt over joyed at the idea. Of maybe, just maybe, having a family together with him. But there was also a sinking feeling in her chest. Something she noticed, that she couldn't quite shake.

There was something wrong with the country of Sanctus Halisa. Specifically tied with the Royal family. The people here worshiped them to an almost terrifying degree. It was also required of anyone not born from the country, to wear a pendent made from the local church. If anyone was to leave the country, it was also required to wear the pendent. Maki had tried wearing it once before, but hated the way it made her head fuzzy, and took it off right away. It was because of all this, Maki couldn't bring herself to have a child here.

The country has very strict laws and rules for when people can leave. Maki decided to make up a lie, of a family emergency back home. Being able to leave, and give birth with no one knowing. Maki, in tears, gave her son up to an orphanage. Giving him the name Ruka, as well as leaving him with one of her feathered hair accessories. She knew she couldn't stay with her son, fearing that Sanctus Halisa would one day find and take him back. Not long after this, Maki returned to the dark and gloomy mountain top.

Her heart still yearned for Kinsley though, despite all the suspicion surrounding the Royal family and country. Soon enough, Maki found herself pregnant with another child. And repeating the same steps as last time, left to give birth. Another son, Kota, also left with a similar feathered hair accessory she left his brother. The difference this time though, was that she did not return to Sanctus Halisa.

Maki deciding to go on the run. It was a scary decision to make, but one she felt in her heart to be the best. She left not for fearing for her own safety, but in hopes to learn what was going on within the Royal family. And more than anything, in hopes to free Kinsley from his invisible shackles. For over a decade now, Maki has been traveling all around the world. Hoping to find or learn anything about that mysterious country. Eventually her travels bring her to people she never thought she would see again...

Kinsley Abbott [ lost love, father of her children ]

Maki never thought she would be the type of women to fall in love. But Kinsley has proved her wrong. Despite the serious wall he puts up, she loves getting to see what's behind when he cracks. (Which she is quite good at cracking him, she would like to add!) There's a passionate and caring soul in Kinsley. There were times she really thought about just staying with him, marriage wasn't outside the realm of possibility in her eyes. But Maki can't shake the feeling of a dark secret, hidden just beneath the surface of the royal family. She now spends her life going around the world, in hopes to understand and learn of the countries dark underbelly. More then anything, she wants Kinsley to live a free and happy life.

Sai Shotoku [ little brother ]

Her younger brother, who she lost contact with when she was eighteen. Maki very much enjoyed being an older sister. Until the day she had to leave home, Sai was really the only friend she had growing up. As luck would have it though, in her search for answers, she is reunited with her brother. She never dreamed that Sai would leave their family, but she's very glad he did. Maki always hoped that Sai could live the life he wanted for himself. It warms her heart to see him so happy. Now there's so much they got to catch up with...

Kazuki Shotoku [ brother in law ]

Never before did Maki think that Sai would leave their family home. Upon meeting Kazuki though, she understands why Sai took the chance to leave. Kazuki is an absolute perfect match for her brother! He brings out all the wonderful qualities that are in Sai. Maki loves telling Kazuki all sorts of stories from their childhood. Sai is glad his sister and husband get along... But those two can be so chatty.

Ruka [ son ]

Her son she gave up at birth. It wasn't an easy choice to make for Maki. But she was thinking entirely of Ruka's safety. More then anything she would give to be reunited with her son. Always wondering what sort of person he grew up to be. It would seem though, that the world is smaller than she thought. After stumbling upon her brother, it turns out that both her sons are living in the very same town! She wants to meet him, but there's a pang of guilt when she thinks of it.

William Lindberg | Kota Abbott [ son ]

Her other son she gave up at birth. Much like Ruka, it was not an easy choice for Maki. Every day she thought of him, wondering of the type of person he was growing into. Imagine her shock when she learns that not just one son, but both sons, are in the same small village! She sees so much of Kinsley in her little Kota... William now. She wishes with her whole heart to reunite with him properly, but her guilt holds her back. 

Owen Ryder [ friend ]

Maki is forever grateful to Ryder. After all if it wasn't for him, she might have never got to meet Kinsley! The two of them are incredibly chatty, and get along well. Maki thinks that Kinsley needs people like them in his life~! She hasn't seen him since she fled Sanctus Halisa, and hopes that he's doing well.
