Mephitis is often plauged by the concern that he'll overheat. At first he was unsure if it was because it is an overall unpleasant experiance, or if it was because he actually cared for the people around him.
After he made some close friends however, he quickly decided that it was because he did care. A lot. He hasn't told many of them about this 'condition'. Though the ones that do know often help him cool down (literally) and stay calm.

He's extremely cautious in his normal state, prefering to stay at the sidelines and watch rather than actually participate in any activity that is particularly rigorous or demanding.Mephy also learns very quickly, both from observation and from being instructed. He is quite proud of this fact and sometimes his desire to show off what he has learned will overcome his cautious nature.He's not particularly trusting of people or Grems who have regular contact with GremCorps.

Due to Mephy's status as a Cypherus/Mutant Grem he wasn't actually purchased. He escaped before he could be 'terminated' due to the experiments to discover more about Mutant Grems.
His escape was due to the fact his Released Form isn't just viotile, but gasous. Which was something that hadn't been expected by the GremCorps scientists and guards, several of which died in the attempt to contain Mephitis. After his escape, he cooled down and his outer shell re-formed.
For a long time after this he was by himself, silently staying at the fringes of a city. He observed people and other interactions during this time, learning through watching. It was after this time where he met his current friends.

Normal form (seen far left) - Looks somewhat like an average Grem2 that happens to have a few holes in his body and a lil steam coming from his snoot. When he's at his happiest (and moderate to cold temperatures) he is in this form and emits bright embers from his neckfluff from time to time. The gold fleck on his neck helps to illuminate the darkness and keep his temperature regular. If his temperature falls below a certain threshold he is no longer able to function or move until he reheats.

Mutated form (seen bottom-right) - When emotionally unstable (ex. angry, upset, depressed, enraged) he undergoes a change. His skin begins to harden into a material much like porcelain, his fur falls out bit by bit, and a colored acrid steam emits from the openings in his body. As his mental faculties deteriorate his skin begins to crack and his fumes become noxious. His pupils darken and disintegrate and eroded pipes can sprout from any of the openings on the back (this is a last resort tactic in trying to regulate his temperature by releasing as much steam as possible at once). He becomes somewhat immobile in this form, as any jarring movement will cause his skin to crack at a faster pace.

Released form (seen top-center) When either he has reached a critical temperature, or is devoid of his sanity completely, he devolves into his released state. All of his skin is now cracked completely off, allowing his concentrated steam core to leak out and take on a corporeal form. In this state he is completely lacking of any emotions or empathy. When he reaches this state he is driven by only one objective, to find a cold isolated place to regenerate his skin and re-collect his mind. Anything or anyone that disturbs him or gets in his way while he is in this form will either be burned alive from the continuously pulsing heat he radiates, or if still alive past that point will be suffocated from the inside out from his ability to permeate a living creature's system through open orifices or even pores. Long story short, if you see him like this... get the hell out of his way.

-Given time in the right environment, his skin will regenerate, and his fur will grow back as well. This can take anywhere from 1-6 months depending on the mental state he was in at the time of his change, and the environment.
