Personality

Remy is an egotistical person who firmly thinks of herself as superior to others. Totally in love with themselves, they often admire their reflection in the mirror and revel in the praise of others, taking compliments as obvious fact. This makes them quite arrogant and somewhat obnoxious to be around, unable to find fault with herself, but although she does see others as inferior, she does value them and isn't beyond giving out praise when she considers it appropriate. Her confidence is admirable, being a fearless and strong-willed figure who always stands up for what they believe to be right.

Being so self-absorbed, Remy struggles to respond to criticism and insults maturely. With their confidence, they'll often dimiss critique as misguided or simply incorrect. However, their ego masks a submissive nature they desperately attempt to keep buried; they are powerlessly flustered in the face of people who stand up and talk down to her with confidence equal to her own. Although they are usually a tough and confident woman, they crumble into a delicate, obedient mess when embarrassed.

While Remy is reluctant to admit any shortcomings, she does have her weaknesses. They have a minor case of germaphobia, specifically being anxious at the idea of touching dirty surfaces or getting substances on her hands. This is the reason they tend to wear gloves, but rather than admit this simply pretend it's a fashion statement. In addition, they are prone to overstimulation, particularly in the face of flashing lights, which can leave them shaken and suffering from headaches. As such, they prefer the dark, often neglecting to turn on lights in their home when alone, finding the darkness calming. Her addiction to flashy pinball machines is counterproductive in this regard.

After particularly rough bouts of overstimulation, illness, or depression, Remy occasionally reverts to a persona affectionately known to others as 'Soft Remy', taking on the appearance of her teenage years, a time before coming out as non-binary that they are deeply ashamed of. This includes reverting to her natural hair and wearing more typically-feminine clothes. Although Soft Remy presents themselves as more approachable, her arrogant personality remains completely intact. The time she remains active can vary from days to weeks, but Remy will always gradually return to being their regular self and be unnecessarily embarrassed about the whole ordeal.

Background

Remy was previously in a long-standing relationship with an equally arrogant man. The two smugly thought themselves superior to others together and brought out the worst in each other. However, when Remy started to understand themselves as non-binary, their partner didn't take it well and did not offer them understanding and compassion. Finding themself on the receiving end of his bad behaviour finally, Remy became depressed as the relationship turned toxic and mentally abusive. 

Eventually they found the confidence to stand up to him and break things off, ending on bad terms. Though Remy was now free to find herself and explore their identity freely, they still bear the scars of the relationship. When they feel vulnerable, they retreat into the gloomy persona of the days they suffered, losing confidence in their identity and reverting to femininity.
