NIGHTHOWLERS : personal lore

It used to be that Nighthowlers were the most powerful creatures in the world. A secret society of shapeshifters, often they were outcasted by their society or hidden amongst the common people. They have extremely powerful magic and were feared by all who trifled with their forces. Nighthowlers have the ability to transform:

All Nighthowlers have a "Common Form" otherwise known as their "True form." This is their natural state and typically the one they find themselves most comfortable in. Nighthowlers have at least one other form. This form can take on any other species, for example, Regi's common form is a German Shepherd, but he has a human form that is unique to him.

Nighthowlers CANNOT take on the form of other people or animals. They can TRANSFORM into a form that's specific to themselves.

The more powerful the Nighthowler, the more forms they might potentially have. If a Nighthowler has more than two forms, they are known as a Colossus. Colossuses have a common form, a secondary form, and a Colossal form. This Colossal form is extremely powerful and are very very large, almost titan-like. For example, Matthias's common form is a Great Dane, he has a secondary human form, and his Colossal form is a ten-foot timberwolf.

There is a third form of Nighthowlers, however. Despite being rare regardless, the [blank] Nighthowler is the rarest of them all. These Nighthowlers have the ability to transform into any species or animal they desire while still holding the magical properties of regular nighthowlers. These nighthowlers still have a common form. These nighthowlers are extremely rare and powerful, however it's thought that they have gone extinct in the modern world.

Nighthowlers must be related to each other spiritually to be a nighthowler, meaning that all nighthowlers are related through the soul and a part of the same tribe. (no it's not incestual, it's a magic thing that has to do with reincarnation and soul bonding). There are times though where a nighthowler might have their powers locked either because of an emotional barrier or because of fate intertwining. These are still nighthowlers, they are just locked in the form they are in whether it's their common form or not. For example, Kao-Chan is a nighthowler stuck in his common form because of this he cannot transform into anything else and is a human. He often gets picked on for this by other nighthowlers in his tribe like Matthias or Cambos.

Nighthowlers may also get stuck in forms other than their common form regardless of the type of nighthowler they are.
