Description
When Jiyue's parents opted to have a second child, it was one born out of necessity. There always needs to be an heir and a spare, especially for a family as prestigious as theirs. It is perhaps, fortunate, that things turned out the way they have, as Jiyue does not have the same ambition and drive that Lunxi has. Everything that was ever given or taught to him was out of necessity, and when Lunxi took over the household, Jiyue no longer became a necessity.
Jiyue is rather aloof and a little air-headed, always having a carefree aura about him. The other families of the heavenly courts have tried their best to move him to their games, but Jiyue's lack of interest in anything, most especially overthrowing his elder brother, have proven a hard obstacle for them to cross. Many people mistake him for being dull and stupid, but Jiyue has been trained fully his entire life for the possibility of taking over Lunxi's role, and can do everything he can do, sometimes even better.
Most days, Jiyue is content to eat, sleep, and play the piano or guqin, preferring to be left in peace.

Abilities
Pureblooded Denglong (蹬龙)
A denglong is a messenger dragon in charge of sending the will of the heavens to earth and from earth to the heavens. Despite being just a messenger, denglong are the fiercest species of dragon in the heavens. As a pureblooded denglong born into the highest echelon of heavenly society, Jiyue is naturally endowed with the many gifts of his birth. He is immortal and will never die from old age, and even the worst of wounds will not end him. That said, denglong (and by extension, Jiyue) are still able to be killed, though only with great effort.
Blessing of the Moon
Born on a month of a blue moon, specifically on the day of the second full moon, Jiyue has been blessed by the gods that live upon it since birth. When under the light of a full moon, his powers and abilities amplify significantly.
Walking Library
Jiyue has had a lot of free time on his own to read any manner of scrolls or books he can get his hands on. As such, he has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of every creature in heaven, earth, or the underworld. There is very little that he does not know.
Strengths
- extremely strong physical attacks
- high physical resistance
- encyclopedic knowledge on all creatures
- flight
Weaknesses
- lower magical affinity
- slower than average reflexes
- afraid to take risks
- does not have much stamina
Summary
When Jiyue was born, he came out a silent child.
The gods of the moon blessed him when they saw him, lifting him up to great prosperity, bringing fortune upon his house. It is a shame, his father used to say, that he is the second child. That the moon would bless him would mean a guaranteed continuation of the Zhao family and legacy if he were to become head of the house. You must strive for it, his mother used to say. You must overcome your elder brother.
They must have loved him more than they loved Lunxi, already grown too cold and too jaded by the time Jiyue was born.
When Jiyue could barely be considered old enough to finally attend court, his father was dead. Lunxi ascended the head of the house shortly after, and Jiyue watched them lower his father's coffin into the mausoleum. Lunxi pat him on the head and told him not to worry anymore, and his mother cried—more for herself than her dead husband.
You must become the head of the family, his mother wept.
They must have taught him a thousand things, made him read a million books, but the one thing they never instilled in him was ambition. The desire for more, the will to create change. When his mother wept for him to overtake his brother, he had naught but a stray feeling of discomfort at the thought of striving to such heights. The Zhao family already has a head of the house and Jiyue is more than fine with that.
When they lowered his mother into the ground next, Lunxi smiled.
"Do you wish to challenge me, younger brother?"
Jiyue ducked his head.
"Not really."
It is easier to live a silent life.
