Demi-humans are known inside the corporation and its divisions as codename “Angels”, originally created to test the limits of human evolution, taking the, already spread through and accepted, use of body-mods and mecha technology. Later, as the City Leaders saw an opportunity to profit from their military power possibility, the project was then converted to focus on its potential firepower.

She was birthed into the world as an experience. Her mother was a scientist in the Genesis Corp., working alongside other great minds on the hidden divisions, where multiple experiments happened to other subjects, varying in age, gender, and race. The only thing Genesis Corp. made sure not to deviate from, was the origin of those test subjects. They all came from the Umbra Sector, the known underworld of her mother City. The poorest of the poorest, dirtiest of the dirtiest, people whom society wouldn’t bat an eye at if they were to be missing.

After constantly failing to advance in the research of their main project, the scientists were pressed and threatened for results, but to no avail. Ava’s mother hit a breakthrough, they seemed to be doing it all wrong. You couldn’t take a fully developed body and expect it to accommodate such taxing external influences, it had to be prepared for that. So, in secret, she conducted experiments on her yet-to-be-born baby, to a surprising success. The baby was able to fully develop and took well to the painful yet well-made genetic and cybernetic modifications. Soon, the Head Scientists found out her mother’s secret, and had her immediately stop the experiments, but, as she showed evidence of a positive outcome on the research, their greed spoke louder than their ethics (not that they had much to begin with), and, as they saw that the baby was developing well, they allowed her to continue, this time with a full team. After 8 and a half months, the project had its first perfect subject alive and well.

That was the birth of Project Seraphim, their most prized subject, who was then raised for 20-ish years as the apex of their research, constantly receiving new and more advanced cybernetic modifications, to the point where she was more machine than human.
