He’s particularly socially withdrawn, seen as a callous and dispassionate figure at the start of his work with the Battalion. To most, his coldness is interpreted as off-putting or even intimidating, and it’s easy to believe he’d prefer to keep to himself. His glare is something to be avoided, indeed.
In truth, Tage holds no ill will towards his fellow battalion members, despite what he gives off. He is mostly unaware of the image he presents. Rather than any real feelings of coldness, it’s due to his own social and emotional ineptitude. When confronted about his apparent lack of care, he'll normally apologize, stating that it's just how he is.
Tage is a natural loner, often clouded by a feeling of negative self-worth or a feeling of expendability... he has a hard time truly vocalizing and processing his internal struggles. The situation he was in before joining the battalion is assumed to be the cause of his reservation and preference to keep his emotions locked up. He speaks in a cryptic manner when he talks about his past. Still, pieces of it can be put together over time.
Despite his cold personality, Tage is not uncaring. He is kind-hearted in his own strange sense of the term. His selfless is exhbited best in his actions, putting others far before him self has him overcoming many issues on the front lines with ease. He's doing his best, and understands how the celestials function pretty well. He genuinely wants to fight them, and clear the earth... he's performing whatever his belief of “a good person” is.
