Athena is a Vampel, a being that shares both the traits of an angel and a vampire. Whilst she used to be easily compared to an angel in her childhood, she is now quite the opposite, holding nothing but hatred in her heart for humans.

Athena lives a violent life, feeling she doesn't need hobbies or pastimes. Her anger at others and the world is deep-rooted within her very soul and she sees nothing else more valuable than getting her revenge on the species that wronged her. In her eyes, all of her actions against humans are completely righteous.

When Athena was but a young Vampel, she found a coven run by a human that sympathised with the plight of the vampels, helping raise and nurture their population. Athena was happy in this environment, finding a sense of peace and stability in a comfortable life. Her naive perception of life as a Vampel was squashed however, when Vampel hunters raided the coven, capturing the human leader and killing many of the rest of the coven. While some fought back, Athena fled in fear.
To this day, she regrets not fighting back against the hunters, training for years to become stronger. When she met the nightcrawlers,
