Udo saved a region in which his town was located, in which he uncovered a conspiracy in which the sheriff was going to attempt to ruin the town by setting it ablaze with hellish fire. He managed to stop the sheriff, but not before half of the town(Sycamore) was already burnt. The people in the town were grateful, but most of the other people in the regions surrounding were misinformed, with the idea that Udo had done much more(had saved the town by amazing magical feats,while Udo had just killed the previous sheriff), and placed him in a higher position in Sycamore. Udo felt very uncomfortable with this power(after seeing how the previous sheriff had turned out) and decided to leave Sycamore to 'find a new path'. One of the only things he took with him was a small ring given to him by a close friend.

he was married for two years to a carpenter, and it was a very happy marriage, but she died of a sickness during the winter months.
