Average body type

The average angel body type is slender and androgynous in shape. Due to a lack of secondary sex characteristics they become very lanky and have an even fat distribution the more weight they put on.

Height can range quite a lot but the average is around 5’7” to 5’10”.

Body colour

An Angels entire body is covered in short hair and can come in any colour except very vivid hues, though vivid colours can be achieved through hair dyeing. The skin colour under their hair is dependent on the natural fur colour and is typically less saturated. Some angels have natural patterned fur, but that is exclusive to server angels and does not get passed down to offspring.

Hair and face

Angels have one eye that can vary significantly in colour, but often has very vivid hues. Their pupils are also coloured rather than defaulting to black, though black pupils can also occur. All angels have short hair on the tops of their heads that stops growing at around 10cm in length max. Their faces are covered in fur but it is very short and dense (e.g: the fur between a cat’s eyes and nose).

Server angel traits

Server Angels are often born with physical traits from their acting admins species, such as ears, tails and fur pattern. This can vary greatly but will never change the angels hair and facial structure. Any physical trait on a server angel will not get passed down to any offspring an angel may have as they are not native angel genes.

Hands and feet

Angels have paw pads on their hands and feet, which can come in any colour. They also have sharp fingernails the same colour as their body, but they can be painted if an Angel chooses.

Angels have five fingers on their hands and have three toes on their feet.

Wings

All angels have at least one pair of wings that they can manifest physically at will. The wings are used for flying and are on their upper backs when manifested, but can disappear when needed for convenience or for aesthetics.

Some angels can also have a pair of smaller wings on their heads that they are unable to hide the same way they would their main wings.

The colour of an Angels wings ranges from white and cream to a light grey, though server angels can have more varied colours depending on their acting admins species.

Angels will preen and groom each others wings as a form of bonding as well as just for general self care, and even when dematerialised any injuries sustained on the wings will still be there, so it is important that angels keep their wings in good condition.

Sexual dimorphism/Biology

Angels have human equivalent primary sex characteristics but do not have any secondary sex characteristics (development of breasts, distribution in weight, facial hair etc). They are only differentiated on their main genitalia and whether they can get pregnant or not and only ever in a healthcare setting. Socially, Angels do not use or have labels for either sex.

Angels have a menstrual cycle akin to humans and have a lifespan of 70-90 years. Server angels are born the age of their admin and age normally thereafter.

They have three blood colours; red, chrome and oil slick. Red blood follows the same blood types as Nethercow/Human blood does. Others are universal donors for angels with the same colour blood.

Alternate Forms

Every angel is able to transform into either a feline or canine shaped alternate form, keeping their singular eye and main colours in the process. This isn't a form they can stay long term in but they can comfortably be in their alternate forms for up to two days before getting exhausted from the passive magic drain.

Angel Obsidian

Can teleport and open up their console panel via Angel Obsidian, a glass specially tied to each Angel and either spawned in alongside a server Angel or created artificially for born Angels/server Angels who lose or break theirs.

Making Angel obsidian is a tedious process and takes months, usually gifted to a born Angel on their 18th birthday as a coming of age gift, as it only grants them teleportation to and from Istillor and not any of the server related functions.

Angel obsidian artisans are highly respected in Istillor and only take on one apprentice at a time. They spend years training their apprentice as creating angel obsidian takes a very long time and is very difficult alongside being culturally important.

Architecture

Homes on Istillor are reminiscent of greek/mediterranean style homes. Made from clay with coloured rocks and sea glass as accents/small windows put above doorways. Most buildings don’t have glass windows and instead just have open windows due to Istillors very mild weather. Buildings either have flat roofs or coloured clay roof tiles, with small windmills on them to both generate power and to also look pretty.

Angels will hang windchimes and strings of coloured flags around their homes and streets.

Ceremonial buildings within the city are exposed to the outside and feature a lot of arches. Smaller buildings or add-ons to existing buildings are sometimes made out of wood and feature glass windows.

Clothing

Angels prefer natural fibres and layers for their clothing, with skirts being a preference over pants. Embroidery is common on almost all of their clothes in some way even if it is small and simple.

Angels will either wear sandals or stay barefoot.

Food

Food is an extremely important aspect in Angel culture as it is the main focus of most of their major celebrations and something shared with loved ones. They keep sheep, goats and poultry as livestock on Istillor and also eat lots of seafood.

Traditions

Angels have a coming of age ceremony for born angels on their 18th birthday, at which they get given angel obsidian and rite of passage to and from the city, enabling free travel should they choose to come and go.

When an angel passes away at the end of their life, a farewell is held at the temple on the Istillor summit where attending angels will each release a small coloured paper lantern into the sky.

Angels in romantic relationships/long-term partnerships will throw broken glass into Istillors bay and then walk along the beach to find seaglass to gift their partner. Once the perfect piece is found the angel will take it to get a special shimmering coating on it, differentiating it from regular seaglass which is used in jewellery and architecture on Istillor. The partner receiving the seaglass will wear it in a small pouch on their body or wrapped into a necklace.

Celebrations and Festivals

Major Holidays:

• Sky Festival:

A two week long celebration during Istillor’s windy season about the wind and the power it gives them. Angels dress up the city and sell kites and wind spinners for others to use and decorate their homes with.

• Flamari:

A night in which all Angels get together with loved ones and friends during winter to share food and celebrate the dedication server angels put into their work. It is a feast that lasts from dusk until dawn and is often tied in with tours of a server angels server the following day.

• Opavion:

Celebration of colour during spring on Istillor where Angels hang up streamers around the city and beach. A night market also appears along the beach's boardwalk full of small games and market stalls, alongside street food.

Arts and Entertainment

Angels focus a lot of their time on the arts and take a lot of pride in their creations. Born Angels or server Angels whose servers are no longer active will spend a lot of their time on pretty architecture, jewellery and other crafts to sell and gift.

Music

Angels like to make a lot of folk songs as well as orchestral music using primarily string and wind instruments. There is also a growing interest in electronic music brought over from Nethercow populations.

Healthcare

Istillors main hospital is most known for when an angel respawns as that is the location they respawn in. Since angels do not get sick often it is not often frequented and many angels only ever go there to either give birth or if they respawn.

Angels have assisted dying available to them when they reach the end of their life if they are in pain, which is done through Istillors hospital only.

School

Angels under the age of 18 attend schooling regardless of if they are server angels or not. Istillor does not have tertiary education and instead angels will go into trades or become scholars through private mentors.

Family

Due to not many angels deciding to have children, many households on Istillor are groups of friends who operate as a family unit. For angels with children however they tend to split off into their own family structure while viewing their friends as extended family.

Pets

Due to a lack of many small domesticated animals on Istillor, pets aren't a common thing among angels.
