Serenity is a wealthy lux, living comfortably on the inheritance her parents left behind, with an abnormal fixation on violence. She is a serial killer who tears her victims apart with her retractable talons, and she uses her wealth and a few well-placed government contacts to fly under the radar if her victims are ever discovered.

She used to think herself above the sorts of feelings that the rest of society seems to suffer from -- things like guilt, remorse, or care for other people -- but the years have proven that there are some very specific people who she is capable of feeling fondness towards. Sterling, someone who grew up with her, is her closest friend, and Leuc -- a man she was planning to kill at first, but who has somehow wormed his way into her heart -- is a constant source of consternation. Serenity doesn't know what to do about these people. She can't kill them, and she doesn't know where that leaves her.
