Cypher--Cy, for short--is an ex-human who volunteered to have his personality copied into a server rack, forming the basis for a massive space station AI. A century and change later, he requests a full-body prosthetic... only to be denied.
Some years later, the request is mysteriously granted, on the condition he acts as a pilot and handler to Axon II.
As such, Cy falls within a subculture known as NCs--non-corpora, or non-corpus--literally "non-bodied".
He has remote access to his old processing hub, and as such is dangerously intelligent, with a memory long and sharp as a blade. Axon gets along with him swimmingly.
