Blaise is a pirate, working as the quartermaster for a ship run by a captain name Saoirse. She is loud, loyal, and sharp enough to keep track of ship politics as they happen; she is trusted by her crew, and unshakeably committed to them. She admires Saoirse, too; the captain is skilled, smart, and charismatic -- and she hasn't let her crew down yet, so Blaise trusts her implicitly. This ship, this crew, is Blaise's family, and she fights hard for them.
