Motherly and caring, Matilda has a deep desire to help people however she can. She has an especially soft spot for children, adoring playing with them and reading them stories. She has a firm belief that blood doesnt just make family, and desires to give downtrodden folk a place. Maybe with her, maybe with someone else. Her temper and high self-righteous rage over injustice can sometimes get the best of her, leading her to make rash desisions that she believes is for the greater good.

Matilda was raised from birth by the upper-class Von family after her biological parents abandoned her. At least, thats what the Vons would always tell Matilda whenever she asked. Throughout her childhood, Matilda was often confined to her family's estate, her days full of lessons in manors and history and "proper behavior". Any free time Matilda had, she would spend it in her family's expansive library, reading story after story of adventurers and found-family epics. At least, until one particular book caught her eye and changed everything. The book, in a strange and mystical language that Matilda could somehow understand, talked of great beings of light and warmth. One particular page stood out to the tiefling girl, and she read one of the passages outloud. The passage, actually being an incantation, caused the being spoken about in the book to appear to Matilda. The being, Arista the Golden Lady, and Matilda quickly grew to become friends...well, perhaps friends was too common a word for what they were. Matilda and Arista were nearly inseperable, often meeting in the corners of the family library to swap stories and magic and, eventually, kisses behind the bookshelves. Matilda was beyond enraptured by the spirit, and by the magic Arista would teach to her. Life continued like this, learning magic from Arista and higher-class skills from her tutors, until Matilda was old enough to leave the manor and persue her own path. From there, Matilda travelled the land, aiding others with her newfound talents and eventually coming across individuals that would catch her eye. Downtrodden folk she desired to learn more about and even befriend. So, she did. She'd offer them some food or drink or even just company, all in exchange for their stories.
