KIGAHEN DESIGN NOTES

  • Please use THIS as reference!
  • You may simplify Kigahen's Nasod leg and claw's, as long as they're recognizeable and the core in the palm/ball of the foot remains visible.
  • Kigahen's scar on his arm has one stitch thats visibly thicker than the rest; please don't forget this!
  • Kigahen has two "cowlicks" of red hair that stand up; these are non optional.
  • The steak in his hair is NOT white-- it is an off color cream color.
  • Even when he smiles, Kigahen has a natural "dead inside" resting bitch face expression.

Personality

Due to being raised by the robotic race of the Nasod's, Kigahen did not develop emotional nuance, nor did he experience complex emotions as he was growing up. As a result, he is rather monotonous and straight to the point with little regard to how his words may affect someone, despite his polite form of talking. In the best case scenario, Kigahen can come off as incredibly rude due to his bluntness. In the worst case, Kigahen can come off as outright threatening, due to the combination of his mannerisms and body language. As he was raised outside of society, he is unaware of the fact his body language can even be interpreted as dangerous and has been compared to a predator because of it; his calculative nature bleeding heavily into his movements. It does not reflect in his face, but Kigahen does not like being perceived as menacing.

However, Kigahen can become explosively wrathful when he's pushed to the point that the only thing occupying his thoughts is pure, unbridled anger. The only person to have experienced this side of himself, and on the receiving end no less, has been Raven while they were a part of the Black Crows (a rogue military group organized by King Nasod.) Kigahen does not like to acknowledge his negative emotions, and has immense guilt over how he treated Raven in the past. To Kigahen, it feels horrible, so he makes the choice to push it down and bottle it up after he joins the El Search Party. The first part of this decision, is that Kigahen believes that if he pushes this negativity down, he can remain optimistic and experience life to the fullest. The second part of this choice, is that he is afraid of hurting his friends in his blind anger.

Kigahen is also an incredibly good liar, which can largely be attributed to his pokerface and matter-of-fact attitude. He eventually (mostly) grows out of it after spending time with the El Search Party and realizing that he can be fully honest with these people-- his friends. However, he never has any qualms with telling lies, which is something that came naturally to him. Due to his dynamic with King Nasod, he is used to saying the words that other people want to hear, just so people can get off his back and leave him alone.

Background

Kigahen, when he was young, came into the care of the Nasods, a robotic race, and was raised by them. He is originally being from Bethma, however he has no memories of the rusty canyons of his birth place or the life he had there, due to being so young. He never questioned his circumstances, as he didn't know any better. In fact, for the majority of his life he believed he was a Nasod as a result of never seeing another human, and being unfamiliar with humanity as a whole.

As Kigahen grew up, he was taught about the Nasods. He learned their history, their goals for the future, but most importantly, their technology. There were very few Nasod's in the foundry capable of conscious thought, so the majority of Kigahen's lessons were taught directly by King Nasod (also known as Adam) himself through a screen, or one of a handful of remaining conscious subordinates that had barely survived the war from centuries past.

These teachings were very selectively picked, only focusing solely on the Nasods and their achievements and downfalls. Anything that was not deemed as "necessary" was never taught, and thus Kigahen never learned about the outside world. He never learned about the multiple battles of different Kingdoms, or other lands outside of Altera, and had the barest knowledge of the El Lady and the Masters, solely due to the Nasods needed the El to survive. Kigahen excelled at the studies he was given and it became quickly apparent that Kigahen could easily understand Code. With the understanding of code, came the basis of his future as an engineer.

It was to be expected. He was a descendant of Adrian Nasod, the creator of the Nasod race, after all.

Eventually, Kigahen did learn that he was human (however the information of being a Debrian was witheld from him,) and though he was initially distraught, he very quickly accepted his circumstances. It meant he was special to be alongside the Nasods, right? He was not one of them physically, but he was one in mind and spirit. With this revlation, his studies broadened to include in-depth human biology, augmentational bioengineering theory, El energy kinetics, and anthrobotics. It was alongside these advanced studies, that Kigahen found his place among the Nasod's as a skilled specialized engineer and blacksmith. When a Nasod would be out and had sustained damage that could not be fixed through mass produced parts, but not to the point of malfunction, they were sent to Kigahen for repairs. To King Nasod, each robot was as equally important in his army. Kigahen would also test potential upgrades on heavily damaged Nasod's, although these upgrades were not always sucessful, and were discarded among the Return Plains.

For the longest time, Kigahen was content with his life. It may have been just as monotonous as he was, but it was still his life, and he enjoyed it. Kigahen never questioned his circumstances, as he had nothing else to compare it to. Every day, he would wake up, work in his forge, continue with his studies, work more, eat his two meals a day and return to his slumber, prepared to do it all over again the next day. That was, if he decided to sleep, and not work himself through the night and following day.

The most rebellious thing he had ever done, was after he has found out he was a human. He had hotwired a mindless Nasod Scout Type-L to run on a seperate network, so he could view its movements through its cameras. Unfortunately, he has seen nothing of interest, but the Nasod did return with a discarded book from the Ponggo's. Of course, King Nasod had been highly displeased at this and had sternly spoken to Kigahen, but it was worth it. King Nasod had never seen the book, and it had quickly become one of Kigahen's most prized posessions.

Nothing lasts forever, and even his mundane life after 23 years had come to an end. Raven Cronwell was that end.

Raven had arrived to the foundry bloodied, bruised, on the brink of death's doorstep, and with a missing arm. Kigahen was immediately entranced with the dying man, as this was the first human he had ever seen in his life. King Nasod's order, was for Kigahen to save Raven's life by creating an artificial arm for the newcomer. Of course, Kigahen agreed, determined to learn more about humanity once he had saved Raven. Countless nights and days, he had spent awake, fiddling with mechanics and obsessing over blueprints. Raven on the other hand, was placed into a pod with an oxygen mask. Whenever he was conscious, he pretended not to be, watching Kigahen through half-lidded eyes as his heart filled more and more with detest for not only his situation, but for Kigahen himself.

Kigahen obsessed over a fantasy version of Raven, a Raven he had made up in his mind. He had imagined them being friends, exchanging stories and knowledge, and sometimes even going as far having conversations with himself as if he were talking to Raven. When he had completed the prototype of the arm, he had danced around his research lab with it. Raven watched, as silent as ever. He could not properly hear through the fluid of his capsule in the few moments of consciousness, but at what he saw, he hated. Everytime Raven had to be taken out of his capsule for testing or further experiments, he was sedated. When he awoke, things about him had changed, and each time he had felt more and more violated. To play God like this, was insanity to him. While one grew sick with infatuation, the other let rage flow through his veins.

Raven eventually snapped, letting his built up rage and confusion fuel his need to escape. He didn't know where he was, he just knew that he was nothing more than a labrat, and that he wanted revenge-- not only against the ones who had taken everything away form him, but also from the ones who had turned him into a cybernetic frak. He sought out Kigahen, who was in his forge at the time. Raven mercilessly set fire to the area, collapsing an overhead bridge onto the other. Raven was eventually caught, and implanted with a mind control device that had already been created in advance in case Raven would be uncooperative. For Kigahen however, the burns to his body were incredibly severe. King Nasod could not afford to lose someone as useful as Kigahen, and demanded that his right and and leg be amputated, and that Kigahen's blueprints be adjusted in order to accomodate his missing limbs. Now, Kigahen was the victim of his own experiments.

Unlike Raven, however, Kigahen was always obedient and the ideal warrior, and thus was never fitted with a mind control device. Much like Raven on the other hand, he would never be able to go back to the life he once led or his former duties. His infatuation for the other quickly evaporated and was replaced with nothing but pure hatred.

The two would train together, which only furthered their bad blood. Raven was not always mind controlled, as long as he was compliant with his orders. The two would spar constantly, settlign their arguments through combat. However, Raven always managed to best Kigahen due to his previous military training. No matter how good he was or how fast he learned, Kigahen always fell second to Raven. It never felt fair, especially not when Raven was promoted to captain of the Black Crow. Kigahen believed that that position was rightfully his, due to spending his entire life with the Nasod's, unlike Raven and the rest of the Black Crows.

It was during this same promotion, that Kigahen found out that there were other humans in the foundry. However, they were all weak. Many were losing their minds to their mind control devices due to the consistent resistence, and for those who didn't, they were in the process of having the same fate. Raven and Kigahen were regarded by the other Black Crows as the best of the best, and were feared. On the Black crow, Kigahen wasn't even the second in command, falling behind in ranking to Commander Slash. He was nothing more than the lead engineer on the airship. Together, the Black Crows would go village to village, pillaging for magic stones and EL shards to bring back to King Nasod.

When Elsword and the rest of the El Search Party had stormed the Black Crow, Kigahen was focused on keeping the ship running while the rest of the Black Crows were fighting on the outer decks-- including Raven. This however, was fruitless, as Raven and the other Black Crows had been defeated. Kigahen stormed out and past the El Search Party, choosing to engage in battle with Raven, who did not fight back as he was on the brink of losing consciousness. Raven's loss was also Kigahen's, and all Kigahen could do was scream at him for it and his broken pride. He had nothing to go back to now, he couldn't go back, and to Kigahen, his entire life was crumbling apart around him. He was dragged off Raven, exhaustion finally catching up to his body. Kigahen lost consciousness as he and Raven were brought back to Altera village.

While Aisha and Rena scouted further ahead, Kigahen, Raven and Elsword woke up, and words were had with each other. While Raven was asleep, the mind control device had been deactivated, and he apologized for his actions. It was then, that Kigahen admitted his defeat and apologized as well for his own actions. It was the first time he had talked to Raven as himself, as Raven. With each of them having their own forms of guilt, they managed to slightly reconcile with one another. Together, they decided to join the El Search Party, each with their own goals. Raven, wanting atonement for his actions, and Kigahen, wanting to experience all that life had to offer now that he could no longer return to the Nasods.

Trivia

  • Kigahen will try any food once-- which has led him to liking some questionable foods. When he was growing up, he ate whatever could be easily stolen, mostly bread, so he is extremely excited to try anything new. He has a similar taste in foods to Raven; liking more spicy and savoury foods. (Although he's far from a picky eater.)
    • Kigahen's favorite in-game foods are the following: (Listed in no particular order.)
      • Chewy Octopus Leg
      • Steamed Piranha and Crab
      • Steamed Spider's Hind Legs
      • Sander Jerky
      • Volcanic Spiffy Meat
      • Lizard Skewers
      • Stingray Stew
      • Spicy Skewers
      • Royal Roll Cake
      • Harmony Pudding
      • El Fire Smoothie
      • Flame Tea

    • Despite liking seafood, Kigahen cannot stand shrimp due to the texture; it is the only food he hates.
    • Kigahen also loves ALL of the other guild food.
  • Kigahen flexes his fingers when he's stressed, nervous, bored, etc. It keeps him busy and grounded, but he never realizes when he's actually doing it as its a subconscious habit. It is one of few things that teh El Search Part look for in his body language during a tense situation, as his facial expressions are fairly neutral and do not reflect his emotions.
    • It is Raven who first noticed this habit.
  • The streak in his hair is from the strain his body had as a result of living with the Nasod's for so long. Unlike Raven in his Over Taker path, the streak does not spread further due to Kigahen having long since adjusted to the enironment.
    • Due to being a Debrian, he is naturally more resistant to the contaminants and toxins that exist within the foundry, as a normal human would likely perish after such a long period of time.
  • Kigahen is also known as "Experiment #007," which is why he wears a tank top with the roman numerals for the number seven on it.
    • Kigahen has had the same shirt his entire life. At one point it used to be a proper full length shirt with sleeves, but as he grew up, the shirt would no longer fit him and eventually became the way it is now after years of use.
  • The Type-L Scout that Kigahen modified remained by his side until he left the Nasods; almost as if it were a "pet." Officially this scout is dubbed Type-KIGA, but Kigahen had affectionately called it "Sparky." Currently, Kigahen has a pet infant Hedgehog named Bread (often referred to a Breadlord.)
