Summary
Fowl is a complicated little jolly. He didn't fail at the task he was assigned, but it didn't pan out perfectly. He lived a separate life completely and experienced everything the world could give him, all right by the side of his best friend. Honestly, he couldn't ask for anything better- anything more than that. Until the game started. He watched everyone he knew, everyone he loved- disappear into violent cracks of lightning. Until all that was left was himself, and his friend. He sobbed as his hands closed around the other's neck, and closed his eyes until he heard the crack of electricity shake the sky.
When he opened his eyes, he was in Dreamhaven, fallen in front of the Temple of Reverie. It was not the welcome place it had been when he got his assignment, not anymore. He was scared. As he ran, he felt eyes on him- everywhere- watching his movements. When he finally made it back to his little home in the Canopy, all he could do was collapse into bed. He isn't sure how long had passed while he laid there.
What he did notice, was when his bed dipped. A familiar weight pressing against his back, but all wrong somehow. He was relieved when the weight shifted, an arm snaking around his core. It wasn't the same. He had failed- he had killed the only thing he was ever meant to exist for- yet, by some miracle, he was allowed to have him back again. It took a bit to adjust to new names, Fowl falling unnaturally from his mouth- so used to a different introduction. His life was back, though, in full force. While he'll never admit on a verbal level how much this particular Thimblet means to him, he's not going anywhere without him, never going to hurt him, ever again.
