Infernal blood that had been dormant for generations in a human family suddenly manifested when a tiefling child was born. This was seen as a terrible omen. To save face, the mother instructed her young midwife to take the child out into the woods and leave him to die of exposure; they would tell her husband and the rest of the villagers that the child was stillborn. The midwife, however, couldn't bear to do it, so she walked with the child all the way to the next town, where a travelling theatre troupe was playing. She gave the baby to the troupe, told them his name was Eve, and then left, never returning to the village.
Eve was raised by the performers as the newest member of their family, brought up alongside the other children in the group. He grew up as well-adjusted as an abandoned child among a troupe of misfits could, and he was happy, and very close to his big family. He was trained in many performing arts and participated in the troupe's shows once he was old enough, but he decided that his true calling is music; his favourite instrument is the violin. During the troupe's stops, he put on music shows, and provided the scores for their theatre performances.
His troupe just happened to be in Baldur's Gate for a show when the Illithids appeared, and Eve was swept away. He was truly in the wrong place at the wrong time. His goal, aside from removing the tadpole, is to return to Baldur's Gate in the desperate hopes that his troupe is still there, that they've kept the faith that he survived. And if they've moved on, then he'll follow them to the ends of the earth. In the meantime, though... he has experience in handling a camp full of oddballs and misfits.
