Yamada Aiko, more commonly known as Ace, takes pride in her capabilities as a skillful trainer. She puts a lot of her worth into what she does, so much so that she forgets there's more to life outside of training and battling Pokémon. This mindset has led her to be very aloof around people, seemingly preferring her companions to them and believing that no one can truly understand her.
Background
Competition has always coursed through Aiko's veins. From a young age, she always felt like she had to prove herself to peers who were naturally gifted with talent. Over and over again, she'd fail in comparison to their natural strengths. It led her to be very invested in the one thing that she knew she could control: Pokémon battling.
Of course, everyone wants to be a trainer, but Aiko would argue she's the one who wants it the most. She went through Hoenn's gym challenge, though some unusual events involving incomprehensible Pokémon prevented her from making it to the Elite Four. She has deemed herself better, though, and managed to score a gig within the Battle Frontier under Lucy. It's only further boosted her weird complex.
