Born in Seoul, Ji-Yu is the child of two doting, middle-class professors who teach at Seoul National University of Technology. Ji-Yu had once hoped to attend but alas could not afford the tuition. Despite the economic climate facing her family, Ji-Yu was raised happy and healthy. She has been working at Society16 for only three years now and hopes to build her seniority. Ji-Yu is very happy with her job as it is fulfilling and earns Ji-Yu enough money to provide for her family. As of current, Ji-Yu works primarily in the tween and teen commerciels as she is very youthful for her age. She also models for the exclusive private school magazines which feature many different school uniforms that the company can produce. In order to maintain her job, Ji-Yu has sacraficed her dream of college at Seoul National University of Technology. Eventually, she hopes to finally enroll in college before she becomes too old.

Ji-Yu is very shy and outgoing at the same time. She can be very adventurous and happy-go-lucky around close friends and family but tends to harden up around unfamiliar faces. She struggles with anxiety often times when at work simply because she does not feel confident enough to be where she is at Society16. Ji-Yu belives her job at Society16 is a God-given opportunity that she cannot afford to waste. Ji-Yu is very much a compassionate and understanding human being. She oftens finds herself taking on others' responsibilities when she does not need to. She is looked up upon by her extended family greatly because she is such a peaceful and kind person.
Background
Ji-Yu has not had an easy life. When Ji-Yu was born, both of her parents stuggled to make ends meet paying for Ji-Yu and her big brother, Song Hye who was six at the time. Before working at the university, Ji-Yu's mother acted as a homemaker while her father worked as a high school teacher at a nearby school. Their money problems stemmed primarily from a bad investment leaving the previously upper middle-class family poor and struggling to raise two children. Both of Ji-Yu's parents were very resourceful however and managed to work odd jobs to make ends meet before finally landing teaching positions at the university. Her parents still reside in Soeul and continue to look after Ji-Yu. Hye, Ji-Yu's older brother, is finishing a law degree in Seoul also but visits often.

Trivia
- When she first began modeling, Ji-Yu appeared with her brother in one photo modeling back-to-school gear.
- Unlike her counterpart, Seongmin, Ji-Yu tends to not go for revealing clothes unless a photoshoot calls for it. She prefers comfortable and cute.
- Ji-Yu is in a steady relationship with her boyfriend of four years, Kim Jae. The two met in their freshman year of highschool and hit it off instantly.
- Many people find it uncharacteristic that Ji-Yu tends to prefer high-end western fashion brands such as Versace and Prada. In fact, her favorite accessory to wear out is her black leather Valentino clutch. Many do not understand that she does not wear it for the brand but for the style.
- Along sider her precious Valentino bag, Ji-Yu has quite a collection of designer purses. She doesn't like to indulge herself too much but when she does, it goes towards purses.
- Unlike her boyfriend, Jae, Ji-Yu feels uncomfotable with public deplays of affection. Though often, she is taken by Jae's charm and gives in.
