A magic 8 ball that lives up to it's name.

Survivors have sighted oddities concerning this 8 ball, apparently strange things happen if you ask it a question and shake it.

On shake one you feel a sense of unease, like you're being watched by someone, but it soon fades. On shake two you develop a difficulty speaking loudly. On shake 3 the sense of being watched comes back stronger.

On shake 4 the sky seems to be shifting, no one but you sees it. On shake 5 you hear clicking noises coming from the distance, but why can't anyone else hear them? On shake 6 the world looks as if it's in a lower quality. Shake 7, you hear footsteps behind you as you walk now, but when you turn around nobody is there. Shake 8, you can not fall asleep anymore.

Any further shakes will result in a 6-sided die appearing instead of one of the eight pyramids, for as long as the current victim is alive. The 8 ball will reset it's torment to shake one if the current victim has either passed or thrown away the 8 ball.

The spirit giving this 8 ball it's paranormal abilities is Jayden. By no means was he a genius in his time, but he wasn't ever a kid of bad intent, always very understanding and well thought out.

Jayden was a child of a single father, as his mother was unfortunately taken away at a young age for reasons unknown to him. His father was rarely ever home, working hard to keep he and his son supported and stable, juggling a few jobs. What I'm trying to say is Jayden was trained to be independent, and was an outstanding survivor when the apocalypse came.

Jayden survived a whole five years in the apocalypse before his death, extraordinarily well for someone who was ten when it all went down. His dad was out at work when the nuke hit, so there was no shot of them reuiniting in the apocalypse. Barely any children survived to see past day one, Jayden was a miracle.

He got by on the skills he had to know to be at home alone as a young lad, like cooking on his own, not being easily frightened, automatically knowing to consider alternative solutions to problems, man I'm making it sound like being home alone at ten is on the same level of awful as the apocalypse...

The 8 ball's strange properties do not come from a place of malice, quite the opposite. The idea of the 8 ball is that it will test the survivors and wipe out the weak minded. Anyone stupid enough to get past shake 4 isn't worth wasting rations on.

It's near impossible for these such people to survive the test of the apocalypse long enough for the 8 ball to get to them, so thankfully it's rare that this 8 ball ever has to do it's job. Again, Jayden's remains have no bad intent. It just wants nothing but the best for the last of humanity.
