Profile

Kidambura - Male

-Personality-
-Around adults, Starling is quiet and obedient, but not unfriendly. He respects adults and wants to appear like he’s good enough to them. He’ll keep to himself, do as he’s told, try not to ask too many questions, and almost never raise his voice. Younger Kidas seem to burst this bubble of calm, though. He’ll transform into his hyper-active and adventurous self. He’s an ambitious little guy, but unfortunately hasn’t learned the lesson about not changing who you are in different crowds. He wants to fit in everywhere so he tries to please everyone. The reasoning for this branches off from the fact that he was abandoned and, even though it wasn’t his fault, he doesn’t want something like that to happen again. He’s easily mislead and can get into trouble a lot because of it. He loves to explore with his friends which often gets him into ridiculous places he has to be rescued from. His favorite games involve rough-housing so it’s not uncommon for him to have several bruises. He almost never complains to anyone, always seeking the brighter side. If someone’s sad he’ll do his best to cheer them up, going to great lengths to make them happy. -

-Story-
-The day was sunny and warm, besides the breeze that would make you shiver as soon as it blew by, but then was gone in an instant. The sky was speckled with fat, white clouds that would occasionally slide over the sun, making you wish you were inside because then there wasn’t a recovery from the nippy drafts. The grass of the field was lush, but not yet uncomfortably tall and patches of wet dirt were still visible amongst the stalks. A handful of trees were scattered throughout the field, bright pink and white blossoms reflecting in the bright sunlight. Overall, it was a peaceful scene…until Sepetsu Ki began plowing through it with her ceaseless energy.

There were three other Kidas in the field, Nicholas, Celia, and Natilie. Celia was towing Nicholas along with her as she pointed out sprouts of the many new flowers coming up. The male tried to appear interested whenever she looked at him for a reaction, but was obviously bored out of his mind. Natilie lay under one of the trees, simply observing the areas of the field that hadn’t been disturbed yet. Even with Ki bouncing around, there was still birdsong overhead.

It was at the point where everyone who could tune out Ki (Nicholas was going insane because he couldn’t) had done it. So, everyone jumped in surprise when the female let out a shrill scream. Celia abandoned the yellow buds she was pointing to and rushed over to the wailing Kida who was flopped into a silly looking position. She lay with her hind legs stretched out as if she were on tippy-toes and her front legs were limply flopped backwards. By the time Celia had reached her, she had bounced up excitedly "I tripped on something!" She squeaked as if it was the best thing that could have just happened. Before Celia could open her mouth the other Kida was re-tracing her steps.

Nobody could get her to stop searching through the grass so they just watching instead, happy she was being quieter. Already she’d done a wide circle around the area she fell and was slowly spiraling inwards with out-of-character interest. After a few minutes of watching the troublesome Kida, everyone returned to their own business. The clouds left the sky, leaving it clear and blue and after thirty minutes, Ki had successfully flattened down a 10 foot wide circle in the grass and was perched triumphantly on the edge of a strange looking nest.

She began calling for all the other Kidas to come look and they had no choice if they wanted any peace “Remind me why I was drug here…?”Nicholas had become completely fed up with Ki and it was all he could do not to snap at her. As soon as she was able to see the nest, Celia let out a cry of alarm. Four indents were in the grass, probably from other eggs, but one still sat there. She joined Ki at the edge of the nest while the other two hung back. As carefully as she could, Celia rolled the egg out of the nest and into the grass that had been flattened out

“It’s sort of cold…” She looked at the others, seeking a reaction. When she didn’t get anything (other than Ki poking at the shell) she huffed impatiently “Well? Are we just going to leave it here?”

“It belongs to somebody.” It was Nicholas who replied

"Why are some of them missing, then?”

“Maybe the parents are moving them?” Natilie was hovering over the nest now, trying to be helpful and look for any clues that would calm down the other female

“There would be someone standing guard otherwise they wouldn’t.” A few irritated and nervous glances were shared amongst the group. There were a few moments where the others tried to think up an argument while Sepetsu Ki went back to romping in the grass. No-one came up with anything in the end.“Unless anyone sees another Kidambura here I’m going to take it so it doesn’t die out here.” Silence again.

With a sense of finality, she curled her tail around the egg and gently picked it up and began to move it to a sunnier spot. Ki trotted over to Nicholas and proclaimed happily “Now you can be the daddy and Cel can be the mommy!” The male twitched his ears and began to follow Celia, making that the closest he would probably ever come to tuning out the high-voiced Kida.-
