Name: June

Tribe: Artificial Leafwing

Gender: Agender, It/They/He

Age: ~40 Years

June's story takes place in the future relative to the main story (Stratosphere's story.) Pantala is well known for its technological advancements, especially among the Hivewings. A trio of Leafwings desired this technology, and broke into a laboratory to steal information. With it, they constructed June, an artificial Leafwing made out of leather and vines. The Leafwings used leafspeak to make it move and greater enchantments (spoiler: it's animus magic that the leafwings stole from the laboratory. How the Hivewings got access to animus magic? no clue) to give June the resemblance of life. It worked! June was a living, moving dragon. Kind of. Consciousness didn't last long, and it couldn't move much on its own. Struggling to progress and getting bored, the Leafwings abandoned their project - and June - to be swallowed by the jungle.

Decades later, the puppet began to move. Some latent magic deep in the ground, perhaps. June was reanimated. Alone, half-buried, and completely lost, June did not stray far from its "home." It is not made of flesh, so the carnivorous plants of the jungle do not bother it. It does not need to eat or sleep, but it does tire quickly and needs to rest often. June is capable of repairing itself, to an extent, but some injuries require more skill than June possesses, which encouraged them to explore and find other dragons. Incredibly shy, it observed only from a distance. But of course, June was discovered, and was named after his coloration and interest in beetles. June's time with the Leafwings was short, as all the attention became overwhelming, and he ended up fleeing deeper into the jungle.

June seeks knowledge. It struggles to communicate - his understanding of language and vocalizations are incredibly limited. He knows, deep down, that it cannot continue on forever. Some day June will fall asleep and will not wake up. The thought scares them. June knows they need someone to help maintain his body. They also know this requires finding companionship and forming a bond with another dragon. June has vague memories of the three Leafwings who created it. The thought of abandonment terrifies him just as much as death. For now, June hides away, focusing on learning more about the world around it and trying to push these horrible thoughts out of it's mind.

Made of leather, metal plating, and plant matter. The plants facilitate movement and bodily functions. All the green and orange plates (including the neck spines) are made of metal (bronze? copper?) plating, many of which are cracked and rusted. June's horns and brows are also covered in metal that was painted brown. All other brown areas - the sides of its face, neck, throat, ears, and sail - are made of tough leather. Everything is held together with metal nails and thread. June's eyes are carved metal balls that were painted black and glows green when June is awake.

June is capable of breathing fire. Or, it is supposed to be able to breathe fire. The plants get in the way. June will often cough up soot and smoke, and when cut, the plants within June will ooze a black fluid.

The puppet decorates itself with various abandoned objects. One notable accessory is a pair of goggles that was left by the three Leafwings. June also has an interest in insects, especially beetles, and is partial to them.
