Grimma is alarmingly unalarmable. She's seen everything and nothing can impress this woman at this point. Arguably she's more fearless than most monster hunters. There's rumors she once saw a child mage corrupt and somehow dealt with the problem and kept it under wraps, but that's impossible to verify, and she spits out the word "confidential" with her Nymenian accent if asked, but she says that to anything related to clients...

No nonsense, not sunshiney but you can never really get her down, either. Stoic but has a sense of really dry humor. A bit lecturey, but in a funny way. Kids always think she'll be the worst but she's actually pretty fun, just don't push your luck or you'll be sorry.

History

Once upon a time, her name was Tabriny and she wore a different face.

Tabriny was part of a secret Nymenian circle of mage children's parents and caretakers and their support network and teachers. Whether by mole or by scrying or by just bad luck, they were found out and put to route in 1199, some captured, some shipped off, some punished, some escaped and living undercover or off to different parts of the world in a desperate attempt to keep their families together or escape punishment for helping them. But you can bet. It didn't go sour because of Tabriny.

She escaped to Ivras wiithout a trace, through some quirk of Grace looking deep into a mirror when she was about to be found and seeing a different form than she expected, allowing her to slip away. Taking the name Grimma, she set up in Faline. Where did she even get those papers? Maybe the Specters, maybe someone else. Somehow discovered several Hidden Mage families without being murdered or giving them away, and somehow convinced them she could babysit their children with supreme secrecy for the right price. Now she's known among an underground network of such families, helping them exist in secrecy and peace out of the vice grip of the Order and the Witchfinders.

One time she watched a terribly warped and corrupted child for a month while his family desperately sought out a doctor who could cure him. While she was trying to soothe the crazed son, he attacked her, lost the last shred of his personhood, and transformed, hiding in a shed and lashing out at anything that approached. She had to keep it secret (since the monster was a weak one, made from a weak mage) to save the parents from the wrath of the Witchfinders, find some mage who could put it down. But the parents arrived, saw, insisted there was still hope. Grimly, blindly, knowing it couldn't work, Grimma helped them keep the monster hidden, until the Order caught wind from the townsfolk and sent Rhavid. Much to her shock, the Order Mage waited until the parents were ready, and then put down the remains of the son with a merciful charge of electricity. And he didn't turn them or Grimma in.

Grimma can occasionally be found in the Dancing Market, looking for desperate folks who could use a little help, catching up with mage aquaintences, and  showing her clients where they can find the illegal magical help they need. She doesn't approve of a lot of what goes on there, but it is a very useful place. Its rougher types have learned the hard way not to mess with her....she's more capable than she looks by far, and she has freinds...special friends....

She also discovered she really likes the local dance scene, so she can definitely be found in various hole in the wall friendly clubs some nights, which is a lot less illegal.. (173 words)
