Maxwell isn't used to smiling a lot. However, he always smiles when he sees passengers excited to get on the train, as well as when he sees passengers happy when they find a new home. Whenever the phone in the entrance hall rings, he hurries to answer it to find out who will be the passengers who will join the Express Orphanage or who will find their new home.
