Portrayal

Alessia Kosugi (小杉アレッシア Kosugi Aresshia) is a third year student at Namimori Middle School who gained a reputation as a delinquent because of her "cool" attitude and the intimidating face she makes. She is the Tenth Wind Guardian of the Vongola Family.

Apperance

Alessia is a girl of average height with fair skin. She has long blonde hair that she usually keeps in a braid over her shoulder, but she will often let her mother do her hair in different styles. She also normally wears hair accessories, often a white ribbon headband. She has blue eyes, and she can normally be seen with a bored, aloof look on her face. She is known for the "intimidating" face she makes, which is just the face she makes when she is embarrassed and doesn't know what to say. Her wardrobe consists of "cool" and "edgy" clothes, courtesy of her mother. She wears her school uniform with the sweater unbuttoned and the sleeves partially rolled up. She used to wear her uniform in a far more disheveled and "punk" way before Hibari scolded her about it. She strongly resembles Fiore, the first generation Wind Guardian.

Ten years later, Alessia is one centimeter taller. Her hair is a bit shorter and usually kept in a ponytail. Her bangs are pinned to the side with a purple hairpin that Hibari gave her at some point. She can often be seen wearing a light gray shirt with a black tie, black suit jacket, and black shorts accompanied by opaque black tights and black heels. She often has her fingernails painted. She has mostly given up her "punk" style and opts for a more comfortable and laid-back style. She still occasionally wears "edgy" clothing because it is comforting to her. She is much more expressive than her past self and can often be seen smiling.

Personality

At first glance, Alessia seems cold and aloof, keeping to herself and not speaking if not necessary. When spoken to, she mostly gives short, curt answers if she answers at all. Sometimes when people talk to her (especially boys), she makes a disgruntled (and a bit intimidating) face. This, in contrast to what one would believe, makes her more popular with them. She also tends to speak in a rude and rugged manner. She is admired by her classmates for having a "cool" personality. However, she isn't as frigid as she seems. She is actually just incredibly shy and sheepish. She gets nervous when interacting with her peers, and she often doesn't know how to respond to people. Her "disgruntled" face is just the face she makes when she is embarrassed and doesn't know what to say, and her rugged way of speaking is the result of being taught Japanese by a mafioso. She really opens up around people she is comfortable with, and she starts to speak more. She is an anxious person, constantly worrying about little things and getting nervous easily. She worries about what other people think of her. She knows that her peers think of her as "cool," but she is too afraid to correct them, so she just plays along. She cares a lot about the people around her, especially her friends and family. She would risk her life for them, and they rely on her.

Ten years later, Alessia is more open and confident. She smiles more, and she isn't as afraid to talk around people. She isn't talkative by any means and she still gets a little nervous in social interactions, but she hides it a lot better. She is more comfortable in her own skin, and she is better about staying true to herself. She still tends to get anxious easily, but she has much better control over it.

History

Alessia was born in Italy shortly after her father, Silvestro, married her mother, Sayaka. Before that, her father had been married twice, producing two other children, Ludovico and Nicola. Sayaka was a Japanese fashion designer that had traveled to Italy for a business trip and decided to stay after falling in love with Silvestro, who was a mafioso. They got married shortly after meeting. Two years after having Alessia, they had another child, Ilaria. Silvestro was a very womanizing man, and these tendencies didn't stop even in marriage. Three years after having Ilaria, they got a divorce, and Sayaka went back to Japan. Alessia and Ilaria lived with Silvestro but they were mostly raised by a maid named Giuseppa while Silvestro was out doing mafia activities and seducing women. Ludovico and Nicola often visited, but they lived with their mothers. Ludovico and Nicola were introduced to the mafia world by Silvestro, so they were hitmen that were known for being an unstoppable brother-sister team. They started to teach Alessia how to fight, but she always insisted that she wanted nothing to do with the mafia.

When Alessia was 13 years old, she and Ilaria moved to Japan to live with their mother. Sayaka was thrilled to have them and took good care of them. She was a fashion designer, so she enjoyed dressing her daughters up in different styles. She chose a "cool" and "punk" style for Alessia, hoping that it would help her with her confidence issues. Alessia just went along with it, unsure how to refuse. Because of her punk clothes and her "cool" personality (which was really just shyness), she was seen as a cool punk by her new classmates. When Alessia was 15, she and her family moved to Namimori. She attended Namimori Middle School, where she had the same reputation.

Weapons and Abilities

Currently, Alessia has little combat knowledge, but she has incredible reflexes and instincts. Her older brother and sister taught her how to fight, but she was never enthusiastic about it. She originally got very anxious during any combat, but this passed with more training. She still doesn't like fighting much, but she has learned to just go with it after getting involved with the mafia. Her quiet nature makes her very adept at stealth combat.

Ten years later, Alessia is a force to be reckoned with. She has learned many different styles of knife fighting and can even use grappling techniques with her knives. She is much more comfortable with fighting, though she still claims to be a pacifist. She still specializes in stealth and covert missions.

Equipment

  • Wind Vongola Ring: Won after the Ring Battles with the Varia. Alessia is capable of producing strong Wind Flames with it and using them to cut through other Flames.
  • Stealth Ring: A Mist Ring that, once activated, conceals the user's presence. However, it only works on electronic equipment and not on human beings. Alessia uses it when infiltrating enemy bases.
  • Ostro: A dagger given to her by her brother and sister before the Ring Battles. Using a ring, she can cover it in Wind Flames. By quickly concentrating her Flames into the tip of the blade, she can create a small blast of Flames to blow opponents back.
  • Karambit: For stealth combat, she uses a karambit rather than a dagger.
  • Lontra Di Vento Version Vongola (Vongola Wind Otter): Alessia's Box Weapon which takes the form of a river otter that she named Nello (ネロ Nero), meaning "priceless" or "unexpected worth." Nello can walk on land or swim in the air through Flames. It can attack by biting, scratching, or hitting with its tail. It is very playful and very intelligent.
  • Cambio Forma: Fiore's Rapier: Nello combines with Ostro to create a rapier with a blade made of Wind Flames. Using the Wind Flames' Freedom ability, the blade can extend or bend in order to attack. It allows for quick and unpredictable attacks that are difficult to evade. Alessia can unleash her Flames through the rapier, creating a powerful beam of Wind Flames. She can directly influence the size of the beam, ranging from the size of the needle to more than a meter in diameter. In its Version X form, Alessia also gains armor around her chest, shoulders, and hips.
  • Circlet of the Wind Version X: The upgraded version of the Wind Vongola Ring, which takes the form of a silver headband.

Abilities

  • Wind Flame Radar: By spreading her Flames thinly along the ground, making them invisible to the naked eye, she can monitor an area. She can only detect vibrations with it; She can't see what is causing it unless she sees it with her own eyes. She uses this in stealth situations to monitor her surroundings.

Quotes

"I know what this ring means. I don't know how you're connected to the Vongola Family, but I don't want this ring. I want nothing to do with the mafia. Being chosen as the Wind Guardian... I refuse." (to Tsuna)

"That 'cool' personality of yours that everyone talked about... It irritated me." (by Hibari)

Pre-Future

Daily Life Arc

Alessia transferred to Namimori from Tokyo along with her sister Ilaria. Because of her edgy clothes (courtesy of her mother), light hair, and scary face, her classmates saw her as a punk and a delinquent. Her "cool" reputation spread throughout the school. One day, she was attacked by Hibari, and she instinctively dodged and counterattacked. He continued to attack her randomly over the next few days. Her popularity grew because of the fights, and she was seen as the girl who stood up to Hibari. She decided to try to tell him to stop, but accidentally rudely told him to "knock it off." He was amused and said that she was interesting, as she was the first person he had met in a while that wasn't afraid of him, even though she was actually quite terrified of him. He didn't attack her after that.

Because of her fights with Hibari, a rumor began circling around the school that Alessia was a strong fighter. A classmate of hers, Sasagawa Ryōhei, heard about this rumor. He approached her and very forcefully asked her to join the Boxing Club. She was startled by his loudness and ran away. After that, he asked her again every time he saw her, though it took him a few tries to realize that yelling at her caused her to run away. She declined every time. She told him that she couldn't join because she was a girl, but he said that it didn't matter if she was a girl as long as she was strong. She was amazed by his directness and dismissed him as a simple muscle head.

After Alessia heard that Ilaria was friends with Tsuna, the "weird underwear boy" that she had heard about, she went to confront him. She told him to stay away from her sister, but he didn't realize that Ilaria was her sister. After Ilaria showed up, Tsuna pieced together that they were sisters.

Kokuyo Arc

Alessia was targeted by the Kokuyo gang and was attacked by Kakimoto Chikusa. She was saved by Hibari and taken to the hospital. After returning to school and hearing that Hibari had gone to Kokuyo and not returned, she decided to go to Kokuyo to help him. Ilaria walked in on her packing a bag to take to Kokuyo. She begged Alessia not to go, and Alessia agreed. After Mukuro was defeated, Alessia went to visit Hibari in the hospital.

Varia Arc

Alessia was chosen as the Guardian of Wind and was given a half Vongola Ring. Ilaria asked Alessia to come with her to the hospital to check on her friends, as she was scared to go by herself. Upon getting to the hospital, Alessia pulled Tsuna aside. She questioned him about the ring, saying that she didn't want it because she knew it had to do with the mafia. She refused to be the Wind Guardian. She then warned Tsuna not to let Ilaria find out about the mafia. Ilaria accidentally let it slip that they were attacked by Squalo. Alessia became angry, asking what kind of dangerous things they had gotten her sister involved in. Tsuna said she had every right to be angry, and he apologized for letting Ilaria be in a dangerous situation. Alessia realized that Ilaria really cared about Tsuna and the others and that Tsuna wasn't as hopeless as she originally thought, so she told Tsuna that she took back what she said earlier and that she "accepts." The next day, Alessia's older siblings, Ludovico and Nicola, showed up at her house to train her. They explain that they had been contacted by Reborn and told to come train Alessia, so they came to Japan with Dino. They explained the whole Vongola situation and what it meant to be selected as a Guardian. They told her that it was a huge honor, but she said she is only doing it to protect Ilaria. They began to train her in hand-to-hand combat, and they gave her a wooden dagger to practice with.

Alessia went up to the school roof during lunch to eat in order to escape the stares of her classmates. She found Hibari there, and he attacked her, knocking her lunch out of her hands and spilling it everywhere. After talking, she showed him her half Vongola Ring, and he said that he got one too. The next day, Hibari asked Alessia to come to roof during lunch again. When she got there, he immediately attacked her. He said that since she was recognized by Reborn, fighting her would be entertaining for him. She initially didn't fight back, only dodging his attacks, but she realized that he would get mad if she didn't fight seriously. After that, they sparred every day during lunch. one day when she arrived at the roof, she didn't move when Hibari attacked her, allowing him to swing at her without opposition. He stopped just before hitting her and asked what she was doing. She yelled at him, saying that she wasn't as strong as everyone thought, and she didn't want to fight him. Crying, she told him that he was the worst out of everyone, and she said that she hated him. The next day during lunch, she headed to the roof out of habit. She decided she'd rather eat on the roof and risk getting attacked than eat with her classmates staring at her. She walked out onto the roof, and Hibari was there. She asked if she can still eat lunch there. She said she didn't hate him, and she apologized for saying those those things. He agreed to let her eat on the roof. He said he didn't care if she was bad at talking to people or if she made faces. He said her "cool" personality irritated him.

The Wind Ring Battle took place after the Sun Ring Battle. Alessia was arranged to fight against Acedia, the Varia's lazy stealth expert. The battle took place in the entirety of Namimori's interior with the two halves of the Vongola Wind Ring hidden somewhere within. The goal was to assemble the Vongola Wind Ring and escape the building. There were various booby traps hidden throughout the building, so the combatants had to maneuver around them. In twenty minutes, all of the traps would detonate at once, causing a massive explosion. The combatants were taken to random position in the school. Alessia set off a few traps, getting injured in the process. She found one of the halves of the ring, but Acedia attacked her with her dart gun and took the half ring, putting it together with the half she already had. The poison from the dart immobilized Alessia. She heard Tsuna call to her from outside, calling "onēsan." She realized that he was counting on her like a little brother counted on his older sister. Filled with newfound strength, she fought through the pain from the poison and got up. She used Reborn's secret passages built into the walls and caught up to Acedia. The get into a close combat fight, but Acedia clearly has the upper hand. Acedia seemed to have defeated Alessia, but Alessia revealed that she had stealthily taken the ring from Acedia's necklace during the fight. Acedia attacked Alessia again, but their fight triggers one of the traps, which causes an explosion. Alessia used the smoke to duck into another secret passage and goes to the second floor. With thirty seconds left before all the traps detonate, Alessia jumped out of a window, landing in some bushes. The match ends with Alessia as the victor, as she escaped from the building with the completed Vongola Wind Ring. She begged her siblings to find Acedia and make sure she was okay.

Future

Future Arc

In the Future, Alessia returned to the Vongola Hideout after having been in Italy investigating the Millefiore for three months. She was able to infiltrate their headquarters, but was found and injured by Byakuran. She didn't tell anyone about the injury, as she didn't want to worry them. As she left the kitchen after talking to the girls, she collapsed in the hallway. She was taken to the infirmary, where she was treated for her injuries. When she woke up, Hibari was sitting next to her. He said that if he wasn't there, no one would have thought to check her for injuries. She told him that she didn't want to tell Tsuna because she didn't want to scare him. He said she shouldn't go easy on Tsuna. After she healed, she helped Hibari train Tsuna. Later, Ilaria approached Alessia and asked her to train her to fight. Alessia agreed and began to train Ilaria to use the bō staff the future Ilaria left behind.

Alessia joined the others during the Merone Raid. She departed for the Merona Base before everyone else and began to carve a path for the others. She took out guards and interfered with cameras. As she moved around the base, she spread her Flames thinly on the floor—invisible because of their light color—as a way to monitor the base. She was eventually found by Halberd, a member of the Black Spell. He uses his Sun Flames to block off the exits. Halberd used the Sun Flames' Activation ability to accelerate Alessia's Wind Flames' Freedom ability, making them nearly impossible to control in large quantities. After a long fight, Alessia won by unleashing a large amount of flames and letting them run rampant, injuring both her and Halberd. He was knocked out, so she left to go find Gokudera and Ryōhei. She found Kusakabe, Chrome, Lambo, and I-Pin and helped them carry Gokudera and Ryōhei. They went to meet up with Hibari and witnessed his out of control Box Weapon. Even though she was running out of strength, she carried Gokudera to safety. Later, Alessia was switched with her past self and received her Vongola Box Weapon.

Family

Silvestro Cabrini

[ Alessia || Papa ]

Alessia despises her father because of his womanizing tendencies. She says he has no respect for her mother or any of his past wives. She is very cold towards him despite all his attempts to make her happy.

Kosugi Sayaka

[ Ali-chan || Mama ]

Alessia is very close to her mother. Though she never really goes to anyone for advice, she goes to Sayaka for advice more than anyone else. She wishes she would have moved in with her sooner. Sayaka loves Alessia very much and is trying to help her gain confidence in herself. Sayaka likes to dress Alessia up in different styles of clothes, but she likes how the "punk" style looks on her.

Giuseppa

[ Gattina || Giuseppa ]

Giuseppa is the maid that took care of Alessia and Ilaria when their father was away. Because of this, Alessia sees Giuseppa as a mother figure. They are quite close. When Alessia was a child, Giuseppa gave her the affectionate nickname of Gattina, which means "kitten." Giuseppa always fretted over Alessia and made sure she was eating her vegetables and things like that. She could be quite smothering, but Alessia appreciates everything she did.

Ludovico Di Pietro

[ Ali || Aniki ]

Even though they are only half-siblings, they are still quite close because of how often Ludovico visited Alessia when she lived in Italy. Ludovico took his training of Alessia very seriously, as he always thought she would eventually get involved with the mafia. His idea of training her was randomly attacking her until her reflexes were so good that she could counterattack anything. She is a bit afraid of him because of this, but she still loves him. He knows about the anxious nature that she tries to hide, so he worries about her a lot.

Nicola Alberici

[ Ali || Aneki ]

Like with Ludovico, Alessia and Nicola are quite close because of all of Nicola's visits. Alessia looks up to Nicola for how effortlessly cool she is (rather than mistakenly cool like Alessia is). Nicola took a softer approach to training Alessia, so Alessia isn't afraid of her like she is Ludovico. Nicola tries to train Alessia in how to read people and how to use her beauty to her advantage.

Kosugi Ilaria

[ Onēchan || Ila ]

Friends

Hibari Kyōya

[ Lessa || Hibari-san ]

They first met when Hibari attacked Alessia at school because she wasn't wearing her uniform correctly (as a result of her mother's fashion influence). Thanks to her self-defense training, she was able to dodge his attack and instinctively counterattack. She was mortified, and Hibari became irritated by her. He then attacked her nearly every time he saw her after that. Though she was terrified of him, she confronted him one day and tried to ask him to stop. However, she accidentally said "knock it off." She thought he would be mad at her rudeness, but instead he laughed. He said he had never met anyone that wasn't afraid of him like her (though she really was scared). Since then, Hibari has been interested in her. Alessia had even started to look forward to seeing him every day, so she went out of her way to talk to him. He was the first person she did this for. Since then, Alessia has considered them friends, though Hibari says he doesn't need friends. She isn't afraid of him anymore, though she generally does whatever he says. Later on, he starts calling her "Lessa," something that only he does. He gets angry if anyone else calls her that.

Sasagawa Ryōhei

[ Kosugi || Sasagawa ]

Alessia and Ryōhei are in the same class. When Alessia first transferred to Namimori and a rumor began circling that she was really strong, Ryōhei very forcefully asked her to join the Boxing Club. Alessia was startled by his loudness and ran away. After that, he would ask her every time he saw her. She said she couldn't join because she was a girl, and he said that it didn't matter. Because of how much he talked to her, she became quite comfortable around him and even considers him a friend. He is probably her closest friend.

Other

7364220_pT2Vp6Iu3l94Wz1.png

Sawada Tsunayoshi

[ Onēsan || Sawada ]

After hearing that Ilaria had become friends with a "weird underwear kid," Alessia started to investigate Tsuna. He was initially afraid of her because of her "punk" reputation, but eventually saw that she just really cared about her sister. Alessia quickly became involved with the Family in order to look after her sister. As she spent more time around the Family, she realized that despite all his shortcomings, he was a kind person who was dedicated to protecting his companions. She gains respect for him and even says that she will do whatever she can to help him and push him forward.

Reborn

[ Alessia || Reborn ]

Alessia has a lot of respect for Reborn. When she first met him, her instincts told her that he was a powerful and dangerous person, so she was wary around him at first. After spending more time with the Family, she realized that while he was very dangerous, she shouldn't be afraid of him. Even though nobody else noticed, Reborn picked up on Alessia's shy and sheepish nature right away. He acknowledges Alessia's skill as a Guardian. He thinks her biggest flaws as a Guardian are her low confidence and tendency to get scared, so he often puts her through different trials to give her confidence or make her braver.

Fiore

[ Alessia || Fiore ]

Fiore being the first generation Wind Guardian and Alessia being the tenth generation Wind Guardian, Alessia looks up to Fiore. Alessia shares a lot of Fiore's ideals and mannerisms. Fiore tries to guide and help Alessia in any way she can, and she recognizes the younger girl as a true Wind Guardian.

Domino

[ Alessia || Domino ]

Alessia has a lot of respect for Domino, though the Arcobaleno's high-energy nature wears her out sometimes. Alessia is someone that isn't very easy to trick, but Domino has no problem doing it, further proving the Arcobaleno's talent for trickery. Though she more often likes to tease Alessia, Domino has a lot of faith in the young Guardian's abilities and even chose her to be her representative boss during the Representative Battle of the Rainbow.

Acedia

[ Alessia || Acedia ]

Since both were candidates for the Tenth Wind Guardian, their relationship was very bad at first. Acedia was touched by Alessia's kindness after the Wind Ring Battle, and their relationship improved after that. Acedia trains Alessia in the future, and she teaches the younger girl stealth combat.
