Dechsen are tall centaur-like creatures. They typically stand at 10-11 feet tall when grown, but older dechsen are known to grow bigger. They are omnivorous with a lean towards meat because of how easy it is for them to hunt. They are violent and unruly, fighting and pushing past each other for anything. Most of them are located in Xastil, but some live out in the forest by themselves.
Their legs split into four large toes that evenly balance their mass. Their arms are very similar; however, they have five fingers and sharper hooves. The arm itself is long, nearly as long as their legs. This is to give them better reach when leaning down and drinking, typically done with the palms. Their tails are thick and strong, the end is covered in dense hair that conceals a poisonous barb that is lethal to anyone injected—except for the dechsen themselves. The spines on their back are a form of defense, they stand up when the dechsen feels threatened or angry and will settle down when relaxed or focused.
Dechsen do not have human-like breasts, firstly because the placement is impractical, but secondly because they are more reptilian in nature.
They have feline-like pupils that expand and constrict depending on emotion or light intake/outtake. Colors can vary from every end of the spectrum. Their large horns are the dechsen’s most treasured feature. All are unique to the individual, most are shaped the same, but certain families pass genes that alter the shape. As the dechsen grows older, on very rare occasions, the horn has been known to split in half and migrate above the ears, where it will continue to grow as a pair.
One of the largest species on Earth, very feared by other species for their carnivorous habits, they will eat anything they can get a hold on, in the past, even other dechsen.
