"Ahaha, I don't really get it, but I did a good job, right? That means I'll get praised "

Birthday: August 26th
Occupation: Idol
Unit: Arachne [Rhythm Link]
Voiceclaim: Luz [Example

Personality

Takumi is a friendly, even-tempered guy who never takes offense to anything. It is deeply subservient and satisfied with the bare minimum, only craving love and attention in the space where other necessities would be. It does not hold grudges, it never hates others, and it does not acknowledge the grudges that others hold against it. It's far too casual about things that would horrify the average person - such as the fact that it has no issues with resorting to violence if it feels like someone is stealing Shiori's attention, or if it believes it will satisfy Shiori. Its morals may certainly waver, but its loyalty to Shiori never will. If you were to point out how horrible this is, it would probably just tilt its head at you with a confused smile.

It has no problem with doing degrading, painful, or scary things for the sake of attention. It is terrifyingly obedient. For praise and love, it'll do just about anything.

Takumi has completely rejected his humanity, and being called a person is one of the few things that makes him upset. If someone tries to insist that he's a human being, it will send him into a complete panicked frenzy that can only be calmed by reminding him that he's nothing more than a dog.

Backstory

warnings: child neglect, bullying, mob violence

Takumi was born in Tokyo, Japan. His mother refused any part in his life, and thus he was raised by his father, a high-profile producer in the idol industry. Though, to call its father's parenting "raising" would be deeply generous - Takumi was barely acknowledged, and if it was, it was always regarded with annoyance. It received the bare minimum of care from his father's housekeepers, and he grew up isolated, miserable, dehumanized, and starving for attention.

Takumi did not go to school. He didn't have friends. He barely had knowledge of the world outside of his home - all he knew came from things that housekeepers said and from the TV in his room. It was from there that he learned about "idols". He had heard the word before. He knew that his mother had been an "idol", but he didn't know anything about his mother beyond that. From the TVs, it also learned about the concept of "love", and "family". Media had taught him that mothers and fathers loved each other, that they even have children solely because they "love" each other. It was then that Takumi wondered - if its mother was an "idol", and its father "loved" its mother, then would Takumi's father "love" it if it became an idol?

When Takumi asked its father about the possibility, its father made arrangements to admit it to Reimei Academy. Takumi was ecstatic, believing its hypothesis to be true, but it turned out that its father only sent him off to get him out of the way. Takumi was admitted into Reimei Academy as a non-special student, which resulted in a life that was not much better than the one it was living before. It was bullied, beaten, humiliated, but strangely enough, it preferred this. The scraps of attention it got from those special students who pushed him around and abused it were preferable to being ignored, and so it began to enjoy this life.

Where Takumi's life truly turned around was when a certain special student took an interest in him.

Shiori was fascinated by Takumi at first sight and immediately latched onto him. She decided to take him in and make him her pet, to which he delightedly followed along without a second thought. Being a human was terrifying and painful, after all - nobody loved him when he was a person, nobody even treated him as such. But with Shiori, he was just a dog, and he was endlessly loved and showered with attention for it. He didn't need to have thoughts of his own anymore, all he had to do was just be obedient and he'd finally receive the attention he'd craved for so long.

When Shiori took Takumi in, she gave it a makeover and promised she would help it become a proper idol. She cut its long matted hair, gave it a proper bubble bath, took it out shopping for new clothes, and completely turned its life around. She shielded it from the other special students and granted it a much higher quality of life, and the chance to truly become an idol with her. Takumi was beyond ecstatic - to him, it was no exaggeration to say that Shiori saved his life.

However, at this time, another person had caught Shiori's interest. A girl named Kinuyo, an incredibly inexpressive special student in the same year as them. Takumi felt immensely threatened by Kinuyo's presence, and grew terrified by the thought of Shiori abandoning it for her. It was immensely hostile towards Kinuyo, and Kinuyo in turn acted cold towards it. It took a long time for the two to get used to each other, and for Takumi to make peace with the idea that Shiori wasn't going to leave it for Kinuyo.

For a while, the three of them carried on like that. There was still a sense of awkward tension between Takumi and Kinuyo, but Shiori was the glue that held them together. Takumi continued to flourish under Shiori's care, learning more and more about what it meant to be an "idol", and relishing in the types of comfort he'd never been allowed before.

The last vital turning point in Takumi's life was the "Reimei Incident". On that day, Shiori and Kinuyo had attended an assembly organized by two students leading a "revolution" at Reimei Academy, leaving Takumi alone. While he was in the auditorium with the rest of the non-special students, a recording played that he didn't quite understand. All he knew was that it suddenly brought the rage and resentment of his fellow non-special students to a boiling point, and ignited a bloodthirst that they were now storming off to satiate. While Takumi didn't really understand, and while it wasn't really angry, it thought back to Shiori - if Takumi went along with the crowd, if it helped tear those two students back down to earth, wouldn't Shiori find it interesting? If she did, then she might even praise it.

It was this thought that ignited its spirit and caused it to storm the auditorium with the rest of the non-special students and put an end to the Reimei Revolution.

Sure enough, when it returned to Shiori's side with blood staining its knuckles, she praised it endlessly. "Good boy!" she had cooed as she ruffled its hair, as if he hadn't just trampled all over another person's existence. "I got soooo many good pictures, all thanks to youuu~!" Meanwhile, Kinuyo had simply let out a hum at the sight, her face not expressing any emotion even then.

The three that would soon form the unit known as "Arachne" left the auditorium in complete content that day, chattering on and on like nothing serious had happened. And Takumi was truly happy.

Relationships

Shiori [profile]

Takumi loves Shiori more than anyone else in the world, and is unfalteringly loyal to her. It views Shiori as the person who saved it from his agonizing life as a human being. Whatever Shiori wants, Takumi will give to her - he will do anything she pleases, no questions asked. He loves to receive praise from her and is extremely affectionate with her. He is also extremely possessive of her - while it doesn't mind Shiori's whimsical interests, it's extremely hostile towards anyone who captures her attention for an extended period of time. This is mainly out of fear of Shiori abandoning him for somebody new, as he absolutely does not want to live in a world without her.

Kinuyo [profile]

Takumi initially despised Kinuyo, seeing her as a threat that would steal Shiori from it. However, much like a nervous dog having to meet a new dog through the door, Takumi eventually grew used to Kinuyo's presence and stopped perceiving her as a threat after its fears didnt come true. The two don't tend to talk much when left alone together, but he enjoys it when Kinuyo gives him attention, and likes getting to do things for her.

Kaname Tojo [wikia]

Takumi holds no ill will towards Kaname, though the same certainly can't be said for the other way around. While it sees the violence it inflicted upon him as being all in the past and thus nothing to be concerned about, that incident was something that changed the trajectory of Kaname's life forever and is not something so easily forgotten. Thus, Kaname holds a very understandable grudge.

Hiiro Amagi [wikia]

Takumi completely despises Hiiro for catching Shiori's extended attention and is 100% hostile towards him. Hiiro does not regard it pleasantly in turn and prefers to avoid it and Shiori whenever possible - if they are forced to interact, it will always end badly. And usually violently, on Takumi's part.

Momoko Oukawa

Takumi is friendly towards Momoko and is even somewhat affectionate towards her, though the sentiment is absolutely not returned. Momoko despises Takumi and will never miss an opportunity to insult him, though he only really reacts with sad little head tilts at worst.

Trivia

  • His character is based off of the concept of spiders laying eggs in corpses.
  • It doesn't actually know his real birthday. The one he has now is one that Shiori gave to him.
  • His favorite food is cake. The flavor doesn't matter.
  • Takumi could not read or write before meeting Shiori. While she taught it how, there's still a lot of words it doesn't understand, and its handwriting is abysmal.
  • It can look terrified on command, but there's not many things that legitimately scare it.
  • Its father was killed fairly recently. It doesn't really care, as it stopped seeking his approval the moment it became Shiori's dog.
  • His circles are CRAFTMONSTER and Mystery Researchers. He doesn't really have any feelings on the activities themselves, and only joined them because Shiori did.
