Codex

Codex, who tends to go by the nickname Dex, is a mysterious little creature that possesses an incredible power: by handling and reading a book, he can know everything that was felt or thought while someone read it and felt a connection to it. 

A book that has had many owners who treasured it has a very powerful draw to Dex and he likes to collect them. 

He hates e-books passionately, as well as audio books,  because his powers don't work on either of these. 

Sometimes newspapers or magazines work as well, but the connections are more fleeting and harder to grasp onto.
