Quirk:
Fossilization

While Ishi has naturally enhanced strength, thanks to  her inherited genes, Ishi’s Quirk allows her to manipulate either her  own calcium, or any nearby bones to form into an outer shell to  transform into a monster with bone skin. While in this form, she is much  stronger than in her natural state, hitting much harder, using her  increased durability and heavier limbs to throw her weight around.

Originally it was thought that she could not see or hear while in  her Fossilized State, but she somehow can see and hear normally as if it  were her own body. Fossilization works well at close quarters, opting  for getting up close and personal, or working as a defensive force. She  can also fire small spikes from her arms while in armor, although not at  far range, these are meant mainly as a deterrent. While in her armor,  Ishi’s body temperature rises, allowing her to blow out steam clouds,  which she proudly states is her “beam” attack. It is not an actual beam!

Drawbacks     While an extremely useful Quirk in battle, and amazing for durability in situations where a protective layer is needed, Ishi needs to consume calcium (she often turns to cheese) to keep her form for longer periods of time.  If overused, she will temporarily become exhausted, pass out, or stunned depending on how long she overexerted her body.  Her armor can be broken, the chances of it cracking become greater over time as she begins to become increasingly exhausted. Cold weather can also make her joints creak, as well as cause them to become sore while in her “Fossilized State”, causing discomfort and the occasional loud pop. It is a drawback extremely detrimental to sneaking around. She cannot fight too well at long range. Her bone armor lets her shoot small spikes, but not too far a distance to be a viable defense strategy. While she is able to regulate the increase in her body temperature, thus reaching her strongest point faster, she will significantly cut back on the time she can stay in her armor.

Personality:
Ishi is a cheery, aloof, and clumsy lady. A tomboy that enjoys cheering others up. and passes her time doodling whatever surface she can find, usually designing big monsters she can try and transform into the next time she is using her quirk to its fullest. She tries to say “I AM HERE!” like All Might whenever she can, although she will grow easily flustered if there are any Pro-Heroes in the area to hear her. While she is out of combat and not in a serious situation, Ishi will have an overall happy, and rather childish demeanor.

When it comes to pro-hero work, Ishi tries her best to keep a professional and positive attitude, trying her best to keep others at ease. While she may feel fear herself, she tries her best to keep an appearance of a level-headed and alert Hero.  Despite appearances, Ishi is rather carefree and impulsive, often improvising in combat, and even mid-maneuver. How she hasn’t seriously injured herself is tied to her Quirk, giving her a sturdy body.

While she tries her best to work alongside others, if her personality clashes with her partner, she is often quick to grow frustrated and either use herself as a distraction, or charge head-on herself. Her father has always warned her that her willingness to throw herself in harm’s way to both protect others, or vent her frustrations in combat can be her downfall, as it was his.

History:

Ishi was born in Japan to her parents: former Pro Hero Raptorex (Tatsuo Kaseki) and her mother, former Pro Hero Tunda (Iara Kaseki). Raptorex was a Pro Hero known for his very dinosaur-esque appearance, gifted with a simple strength based Quirk: Dino Soul, which gave him super strength, speed, and sturdy body structure. Her mother had a shapeshifting Quirk: Natureform, and was known in her hometown as the local hero Tunda, keeping dangerous people from the small town she hailed from in a remote area of South America. Tunda and Raptorex met when Tunda was sent to Japan to help with a case with a trail leading back to a former small Villain which hid away in Japan for several years. During one of the fights, with the Villain’s ring, she met Raptorex, and teamed up with him thanks to the Hero Public Safety Commission, and the Police Force’s involvement in the investigation. After a final confrontation, Raptorex received a career ending injury, leaving him unable to fight at his peak strength since the incident. When Tunda went back home, Raptorex eventually went to visit, they eventually married and Ishi was born to them.

Ishi grew up as many did, idolizing All Might, and wanting to go to the highest ranking Hero school known once her Quirk developed at a young age. Ishi had the occasional teasing from others due to her appearance, but she often took it in stride, stating she was born to be a Kaiju Hero and she would be their friend when she grew up to be a Hero, just like the Kaiju in one of her favorite movies. She grew up playing video games during her free time, while she wasn’t playing outside, and watching movies with big monsters, especially the ones where they were the good guys, and drew inspiration from them for her goal of becoming a Kaiju Hero. It was when her Fossilization Quirk developed that she began to draw in order to find a form she could work towards shaping her Fossilization Quirk around. When she wasn’t working hard in school, she was slowly trying to train her Fossilization Quirk to take the shape she desired. She developed new techniques she could use in training with her father, but the true extent of her abilities would not come forth until she reached high school.

After much studying, and training from her father (to the best of his ability), Ishi and her family moved to Japan, so that she could go to U.A. There she sustained positive grade averages, and trained daily, putting her all into one day becoming a Pro Hero, and eventually made her debut. When she graduated, Ishi went home for a while to celebrate with her parents, and help her home city. She then moved back to Musutafu to try and join in helping out at U.A. High, feeling that she owed her newly found Hero career thanks to the staff there.  Ishi is not bound to one region as a newer Pro Hero Marrex, but she tries to stay close to regions where there are children she can inspire to become the real “Friend to All”, a living breathing Kaiju Hero. When she can, she tries to volunteer as a speaker, guest Hero, or even teach at U.A. with courses in using quirks defensively, or in physical training. She can give lectures, but it is not her strong suit.

Ishi, while a full time Hero, also wants to spend at least some time becoming a teacher. At least once she can gain the experience to be able to part with some knowledge towards other would-be Heroes. However, she may be considered a bit too aloof to do so.

Extra Info:

  • 6/6 Power: While Ishi can reach extremely high levels of power, the increased stress on her body will gradually cause her to overheat, reaching Critical State, and leaving her at increased risk of becoming stunned, unable to move, or passing out on the spot. If left within her armor, she would be unable to be broken out of it until she regains consciousness, unless it breaks apart around her. She will usually cause it to collapse if it is safe enough to do so, if not, the armor will become immobilized. Ishi can also eject herself from the armor, but she will be unable to remake the armor for some time while superheated. If she does attempt to do so, she risks immediately collapsing. She did this once. It did not go well.
  • The biggest Ishi has managed to grow as Marrex’s Fossilization is 15 meters (49 feet) tall, she was unable to maintain the proper calcium consumption and passed out within 30 minutes. She’s tried gradually to go past that, but it has had varying levels of success. (Mainly passing out in inconvenient places, that seems to be a reoccurring problem.)
  • Fossilization will reach less and less stability the bigger Marrex grows, requiring more calcium consumption. A prototype Hero suit had once had a reservoir of calcium for Ishi to consume, but she consumed it much too quickly for it to be sustainable. It was promptly removed. Her father offered to instead drive a refrigerated truck full of cheese for her to eat out of. Ishi likes to think of it like Kaiju sometimes flee to different buildings to re-energize.
  • Ishi’s Fossil form will gradually become less and less stable the more damage she takes, it will begin to crack. She can temporarily repair the armor, but after some time, it will begin to fall apart.
  • Ishi is still relatively strong and capable in combat outside of her Fossilization. She inherited her father’s super strength, so she still hits relatively hard. While not fast, she can use her strength to launch herself in short bursts. Her running speed is pretty average and unimpressive otherwise.
  • The longest Ishi has been out cold is two weeks and a half. She was considered comatose.
  • Marrex’s favorite cheese is Mozzarella. She’ll eat whatever cheese you set in front of her, though.
  • Ishi has met some bigger Heroes, but she does not do well in their presence, she becomes starstruck, and easily flustered. She has yet to fully realize that she too is a Hero people look up to. That’s wild in her mind.
  • Ishi wishes that instead of just watching the U.A. Sports Festival, she could participate in it, again, to go up against the participating students. She’s terrified of hurting someone, though.
  • Ishi has a figure collection at home of all her favorite Heroes. She’s got some vintage figures, too.
  • Ishi has a collection of figures from all her favorite games, a lot of them are monsters.
  • She has some figures she has bought damaged and either repaired them herself, or left them as is, believing that the damage gives them character, or shows they were loved for a long time.
  • Ishi is much heavier than she appears, due to the density of her bones. Her father can still pick her up, though.
  • The first major battle where Ishi had to enter Critical State was during the raid on Team Echo. Outside of that, she has rarely used it outside of training. It leaves her in an extremely vulnerable state once the armor wears off, exhausted and feverish.
  • She caught a pretty bad cold once after trying to train her Critical State. She swore to never use it again during flu season (this did not work out).
  • Support gear:
  • A truck her father often drives with cheese reserves for Ishi to be able to maintain Fossilization for longer periods of time.
  • There was once a prototype armor she had, but she destroyed it when activating her Quirk 🙁 it looked pretty cool, shame it doesn’t exist anymore. Akiara still has the concept sketches.
