Deeply anxious and very reserved, June's been living on the surface for the past eight years. While fluent in the Inkling language at this point, she's still pretty clearly an outsider in the culture, being withdrawn and not really ready for the hypersocial culture of Inklings. Instead, she lets her roommate, Basil, do all of the socializing for her, only really getting out of their apartment when Basil drags her out. As much as it's out of her comfort zone, June does get along with Basil's teammates and friends, who all collectively encourage her to continue being out of the house and enjoying traditional Inkling entertainment and social dynamics. She's very close with her older sister, May, and her sisters girlfriend, Penny, who she has a similar sibling bond with. She's a new resident to Splatsville, having moved out of May and Penny's apartment in Inkopolis only a few months prior, but she's learning to enjoy the atmosphere. She's an avid Tableturf enjoyer, and frequents her local game store to participate in their weekly TCG meetups. While a rare sight to see, she's known for her sense of humor when she actually manages to get out of her shell more.

- She prefers to stick to painting as much as possible, and avoids fights when she can

Older Sister
June's oldest and only sister. Sharing a seven year age gap, May and June grew up incredibly close. Even when June was a baby, May was very loving and protective of her, having practically squealed in delight when, as a toddler, June had instinctively matched her colors to May. As older children, they were both able to look out for each other, as their parents would leave early in the mornings to go to their jobs, June would typically end up waking up May if she slept through her alarms for school, and May would make sure June had everything she needed for the day ready. When May ended up running away, she gave June the choice of whether or not she wanted to come, telling her that her choice would be permanent, but that she'd do everything in her power to keep her safe regardless. June, fully trusting May, went with her, leading into their mutual escape to the surface. Their relationship, however, would also permanently shift alongside their living situation, as May could no longer just be June's older sister, now being her full-time guardian. This also ended up with both of them more closed off from each other than they were before, May not wanting June to worry about the fact she didn't know where she was going or what she was going to do when she got there, and June not wanting to put even more stress onto May by telling her about how scared she was. Even with the shift in their dynamic, however, the two remained intensely close, and would continue to be. In the current day, while now living apart, the two still stay in frequent contact with each other, with near daily calls, frequent texts, and a semi-regular visit from the both of them. May is June's biggest supporter, and is always ready to drop everything to help her out
Sister-in-law
While not married in as of yet, Penny serves as June's sister-in-law regardless of legal status. Meeting when June was only 11, Penny almost instantly slotted into the dynamic between May and June as another member of their family, even before anyone fully realized it. With May having become June's guardian, and having to take on more responsibilities than before, Penny ended up essentially taking the place May had been before, an older sister who June could talk to in ways she felt like she couldn't with May anymore.
After seeing their poor living space, with May only being able to afford a dingy motel room with what little and inconsistent pay she was getting, Penny invited them to move in with her in her apartment, which while still not great, was leagues better than where they were living currently. Penny became the only person June would actually talk to about how she was feeling, as she didn't want to burden May with her stresses and anxieties on top of everything she was already facing, and continues to be one of the first people June goes to when she's in need of help, or just someone to talk to. The two have been and remain to be incredibly close, as they both completely view each other as family members, and keep in contact just as much as June does with May now that she's moved out
Roommate
June's roommate and closest friend. Basil and June originally met through their becoming roommates, with June being encouraged to go out on her own, and Basil having just had her last roommate move out. June was simulteanously welcomed and also overwhelmed by Basil's nonstop high energy and bubbly attitude, initially thinking she was going to pass on the apartment and look for other open ones nearby, but May ended up convincing her that it'd be a good change of pace for her, that someone as social and active as Basil is would get June out of the house more. This predication was entirely accurate, with Basil instantly getting June absorbed into her preexisting friend group, and always asking if she was available to come hang out and watch some matches. While initially very offput by this behavior, June's learned to enjoy it, with Basil's insistance that she get out of their apartment and be social having nothing but a positive impact on her, with new friends, some confidence, and even getting over her childhood fear of playing matches. It's through this, naturally, that June develops a very blatant and very unsubtle crush on her. She chooses not to pursue it, worried about getting rejected, especially given that Basil's her roommate, and any awkwardness after a failed confession would severely impact their ability to live together. Instead, June keeps her feelings to herself, or at least as much to herself as she can, with everyone other than Basil being able to very clearly tell. Regardless of her desire for a romantic relationship with her, both June and Basil are very close with each other, and balance each other out well, with Basil's high energy bringing out the more social part of June, and June's lowkey and reserved personality giving Basil a well needed break from her own antics

Prior to the mass return of Octolings to the surface, June had her tentacles cut to resemble the shape of Inkling tentacles more closely
She's only recently started taking on a more purple accent color
