Story

An acrobat who used to roam the continent of Albidaya. Born to a circus family, they travelled for their shows all across the continent. It was with them that he met the demon, J'onn J'onzz, who joined their circus. Then, one night, after Dick had had an argument with his parents, he ran off into the night; he had only intended to scare them, or perhaps make them mad, but when he returned to the circus...

They were dead. Someone had murdered them. Fearing for his own life, the 16-year-old Dick fled the scene with J'onn.

The two had a vague, yet mutually beneficial partnership. For several years, Dick got by with odd jobs and small-scale acrobatic performances. In this time, he calmed himself, he gathered himself, and found that his newfound freedom was, in many ways, the best thing he had ever had.

Then, one night, J'onn came to Dick in a rush. He told the now 20-year-old that he had found a lead for his greatest treasure yet, and paid for the fare to bring Dick with him... To Epidita, Lastola, where Dick would go on to live for the foreseeable future. Although he had no money and no roof over his head at night, Dick felt satsified with what he still had. He would frequently tussle with petty criminals on the streets, protecting others just like him who had nothing. Although Dick lived day-to-day off only the kindness of the people he helped, he was happy.

After some time, Dick began to dedicate all his time to punishing thieves and gangsters who would threaten the peace of the small, poverty-stricken community he called his home. To that end, he donned his acrobat's suit, and used the skills that once entertained people at the circus to protect and save those who needed his help. Thanks to his efforts, the people around him praised him and seemed to almost revere him. They called him by his link: The Raven.

Along the way, he met a little boy with a similar 'disposition' to him, a boy that the people called Robin, whether by coincidence or as a direct reference to his Raven persona, he could only guess. In any case, Dick was quickly struck with a sense of protectiveness for the boy, who had nowhere to go, and had ran away from home simply to search for his father.

Although Dick, himself, was quite fine sleeping on rooftops and traipsing by the dock, he knew that this boy would have no luck with the same hand. To that end, he visited the local circus just as they were setting up, and was pleased to be recognized for his widely-known talents as a child. Upon explaining his plight to them, they gifted him with all they could: a run-down, small circus caravan.

Anyway. J'onn eventually came back to Dick, and introduced him to a vampire that the people called The Batman. Once again, Dick found that he had met a kindred soul, and the two hit it off quickly.
