BAIT

There's something very romantic about self-destruction and sabotaging your life, and taking a hammer to it.
Bait is a very laid back, go with the flow kind of guy. Rarely will you ever find him getting frustrated or upset at another (Though, if he were agitated with you, you wouldn't know it) Usually he'll find himself shrugging it off, that or being too tired to really worry himself on it; Though, that being said, he is still very dedicated to his intentions and wont stop until the task at hand has been taken care of, with or without help.
There isn't many obstacles Bait isn't willing to tackle, whether it's his or anothers, he isn't easily set back by hardships. He holds the people around him as close as he can, and attempts to cushion their life as much as possible, even if it's not so great on his own vitality.
Good/Neutral traits:
Hospitable
Strong Ethics
Level-headed
Bad traits:
Non-Confrontational;
Easily Attached
Excessively Selfless

Youth
Bait grew up in the underground of Inkopolis Bay, being thrust into the Octarian Army at a young age as an asset after a long discussion between high-ranked Octarians regarding what to do with him due to his crossed species. (They end up gracing him with this postion because they believe he might be of some value, taking into account his large build.) However, since he is seen as significantly more disposable than other soliders, He, along with a small team of equally disregarded octolings, are assigned to the Metro with the task of figuring out why the sanitization of Octolings is occuring. (Which, most of the time ended up being mass extermination of the infected, much to his disapproval) He stays here a good chunk of his life, trying to help solve a problem with no solution.

Early/Mid Teens
Bait, being the strong pacifist he had always been, eventually can't take the constant brutality anymore. Unknown to the higher ups, the normal octarian brainwashing hasn't ever effected him. (Something something frequency for octolings, something something part inkling so it doesn't work how it should)
Having lived in this area his entire life, he knows the metro like the back of his hand, deciding to take the way out. Before he is able to make the entire way through the railline, he meets and teams up with another octoling fugitive; Cuff. The two eventually run into a lost Agent 3 and Capn Cuttlefish; Bait didn't really care to help the two, not even being able to communicate thru more than broken inklish, he eventually cracks, allowing them to catch on the trip to the surface with the help of a radio-communicated Marina and Pearl.
(Some kind of fucked up Agent 8 but not really Agent 8 scenario? No evil telephone.... no Agent 8 v Agent 3?!)

Young Adult/Current
Bait settles into Inkopolis, staying friendly with the inkfish he'd met during his escape. (Though, moreso considering Cuff a good buddy more than the rest. Most if not all contact is cut with Squidbeak)
He picks up work at Grizzco, being the helmsman for the place and generally being worked half to death being the only person working the position, and the hours just make it worse. Most of the time at work is linked up with his co-worker, Charms, who has to stay on site and supervise due to his own position. The two sometimes spend up to 5 day shifts together, the advisor and helmsman both needing to stay on the boat most of the day besides cleanup, taking the freetime they have becoming good friends.
The job was easier with him around, spending day and night with someone he considers himself closest to. Eventually, Cuff and Charms, both being mutual friends of Bait, meet. The two form a rivalism-friendship, usually needing to be mediated by Bait; who, honestly thinks it's a little hilarious.
The other is eventually transferred to another city for work, and though the two stay in contact, Bait becomes more of a hermit, spending majority of his time working. (Which, usually, is loudly disapproved of by those close to him)

Height

6'7
Build

Pretty muscular, but soft appearing build
Style

Comfortable with mostly earthy tones

His species gives him a pigment issue in his tentacles. The ink color is yellow, but appears white everywhere besides the ends of the tentacles. This is the same for any other ink color.

His fangs are mismatched, having the upper beak of an inkling and the lower beak of an octoling.

His ears are wide and octoling adjacent, the ends coming to a slight, rounded off point. The ink color also shows on the points of his ears and end of his fingers.

The shirt beneath his jacket is of Hightide Era.

His tentacles are a stringy version of the Soaked inkling tentacle style.

He has a heavy scattering of freckles across his entire body and a scar from contact with sanitizated ink on his left arm.

There is a hook earring thru his left ear, and a rope-like bracelet on his right wrist.

Ex-Coworker, Close friend
Charms and Bait meet during their time at Grizzco. Bait is fairly protective of the other, moreso than his general way of treating people, and considers him something of a best friend. (Which, he is aware that the sentiment is mutual, Even if Charms wouldn't admit to it.)

Close friend/Partner in crime
The two met during their escape, becoming and staying pretty good buddies. It might not appear as that to outsiders at first; Cuff and Bait's relationship can be jestful at times.
Bait also ensures that Charms doesn't kill him and viceversa.

Bait's main weapon is the Zink Mini Splatling. He dabbles in all splatlings; it being his favorite, even though he has experience with all types from his time in the Octarian Army.

Bait's gear is the Brown FA-11 Bomber, the Hightide Era Band Tee, and the Punk Blacks.

The white ink is a pigment disorder from being crossbred. Formerly, he had more pigment, but he chopped his tentacles short after escaping the underground and lost most of it.

Being a Dana Octosquid, his tentacle ends and freckles light up when it's dark. He isn't a big fan of this.

Bait tends to refuse recreational battling, not being to keen on the idea of battling for fun; stemming from the way he'd grown up. Sometimes he'll participate in Splatfests in Splatsville just to make Charms happy, though.

Charms and Bait initally become closer friends because of their similar experiences with being isolated for being unusual.
