the childhood friend and bodyguard-retainer of lady ines, lenore has acted as her shadow all her life- until she no longer could. many things were left incomplete between them- words, thoughts, feelings- all of which will never be felt or spoken again. countess ines was manipulative, emotionally distant, and let nothing close to her heart- save for the fatal illness that brute forced its way through in the end. she and lenore lived their lives together but felt worlds apart. it was forbidden for someone of lenore's status to truly befriend the lady of the house. but maybe ines, who had grown weary from guarding her heart, desperately needed someone to entrust it to.
what becomes of a shadow, then, when its caster has ceased to exist?
