Hollis was born into a loving family, one with little to no magical influence. Hollis father fell in love with a normal woman, no magic abilities at all. A shy girl from a small town with a ideas bigger than any person could possibly accomplish. She was immune to the fog that clouded most people seeing the world for what it truly was, magical. She charmed his father right from the start, and cheesy as it was, you could call it love at first sight. Not long after they had met they became pregnant with Hollis. It was a surprise but one they welcomed none the less.
Hollis childhood was full of love and affection. Most of his young years were spent with his parents away from the public, they taught him about magic and monsters but never made it a focus. Around the age of 6 they moved from their small town to the city and began working in the funeral home buisness. Hollis was desensitized to death at a young age because of this, and socially outcast from other kids.
The older Hollis became the less he interacted with other people sticking mainly to his home and helping his parents with the family buissness. His mother homeschooled him, further pushing him away from interaction with kids his age. He found solice in taking care of small animals and plants, finding the companionship to be welcoming. Around this time he began to develop pretty sever social anxiety and has a had time controlling it.
During this period of his life Hollis experienced an event that would alter and shift his perception of magic and the world around him. While out with his father on a grocery run they and the large group they were in was attacked by a rogue mage. Hollis father did his best to help and protect any non magic users but unfortunatly Hollis was caught in the crossfire. Hollis suffered irreiversable damage, the upper right half of his body burning away. With quick action from his father the damage was minimized but Hollis was left with the scars, physical and mental, from the event.
It took an incredibly long time for Hollis to recover from his injuries. After the rogue mage was restrained and dealt with it took almost a year for Hollis to recover. learning how to use his body again after it was so damaged. He was able to make almost a complete recovery, only the scars remaining, gnarly reminders etched into his flesh. Terrible people can use magic, and these people do not care who they hurt.
Hollis made it his mission to learn all he could about magic so that he could protect others, to prevent what happened to him to happen to anyone else. He has an affinity for darkness and relies heavily on necromancy. To him Death is one of the stages in lifes circle and he doesn't see a problem with using the dead after they are gone. While most people see necromancy as disrespectful, Hollis does his best to respect those who have passed and those who are affected by his magic. Hollis made it his mission to hunt rogue mages, and eventually he was recognized and asked to join Citadel Six.
