As a child, Delaia wasn't very fortunate. For starters, she was born as a Tiefling. Tieflings already led a life of scrutiny, so she was already cursed with that for the rest of her life. However, not even her own parents could provide her with the love she deserved. They tried to care for her even without love in their hearts. But when she was too much to bare, Delaia was abandoned by her parents. No one wanted a Tiefling child, seeing Delaia as a spawn of Satan himself. So she was forced to survive on her own, teaching herself basic knowledge like reading and mathematics. But she also taught herself how to survive; how to fight.
Although she had made well for herself, able to feed, bathe, and clothe herself, she still remained unhappy. Wherever she went, Delaia was met with hatred just because of her heritage. She never felt welcomed. She never felt loved. She desperately wanted that acceptance from anyone, whether they be a friend or a lover. One day, she did meet someone. A man approached Delaia and spoke of her beauty. He loved the way her blue hair billowed over her shoulders, the way her eyes glowed amber in hue. His words were like a poison that Delaia couldn't refuse. And that night, he took Delaia home with him for a night of passion. But Delaia would quickly make a grim discovery.
This man she met was no man, but an incubus feeding off her passion. His feelings weren't true, he didn't care about Delaia at all. He was just having his next meal. Delaia was devastated...and humiliated. She felt so stupid to fall for the incubus' tricks. And she would realize that this would be the worst mistake of her life. The incubus, cunning in his ways, threatened Delaia with blackmail. He would spread rumors about their night of passion together. Not unless she made a deal with him. The incubus would keep his mouth shut if Delaia became his. She would be branded with his mark, which would glow whenever Delaia was summoned to his quarters. She would have to abide or be faced with the worst torture she could experience. Delaia reluctantly agreed. Runes of the infernal language were burned into her back, signifying this deal. And whenever the incubus summoned her, the runes would glow. Delaia would have to return to him.
After that day, Delaia hated herself even more than she already had. She never felt truly beautiful; she didn't want to believe what anyone said to her to be truthful, in fear she would fall into another trap. Now that she had this on her conscious, forever reminded by the branding on her back, people had a real reason to hate her now.
