Lewis Sanford Vallonton is a royal triton wizard, husband to the empress of the Eastern Expanse: a grand triton kingdom that reigns over the entrance of a wide-mouthed chasm that houses their deep-sea residents. Once a human student, he transformed into a half-shark after a horribly botched teleportation circle that was intended to bring him a rare shark specimen. Instead, the circle fused him with it.

Lewis has returned to the surface with his new gang of friends in order to get his dissertation published. During his years of triton kingliness, he has spent that time studiously studying triton anatomy on a molacular and arcane level in order to ascertain their medicinal value. His findings are inscribed in his spellbook: a large, incredibly detailed, and carefully hand-crafted strand of quipu. The beads are multicolored and made of bone, corals, and other fine undersea stones, and are carefully hand-carved by Lewis to contain massive arcane energies, hence why they also serve as his spellbook. They also serve as his heavy armor, as their inherent arcane energies make them impossible to destroy (don't worry about the logistics).
