Appearance:

Ameianoite is a tall elven man of Drow and Shadar-Kai descent, standing at 6’0” (180 cm) tall. He has an athletic build, slightly stockier than the average archer due to his Fighter background, though compared to other classes, he is still rather lithe. His skin is a muted, cool-toned purple. He has a widow’s peak with long black hair in a 2c curl pattern that reaches down to his waist. The front of his hair is shorter than in the back, so his hair falls across his face in long strands. 

His face is sharp and diamond-shaped, with a large scar running down the left side of his face, from just above his left eyebrow to his lip. He wears eyeshadow that smokes out to the tip of his eyebrow. It is permanently dyed into this configuration from the potency and frequent usage of his makeup. He also, similarly, wears this stain on his lips. On his chin, he sports a well maintained, small patch of facial hair, and a pair of gold snake-bite piercings. Like other Drow, he is routinely perceived as extremely attractive.

Childhood -

Birthplace: Unknown. Time, 12XX

Ameianoite’s mother, Rellevan de la Vuthirek Maegos, is a Drow bounty hunter who gave birth to him after a stint with an on-and-off again lover of hers. Having wished to have children since she was young, she chose to raise him and teach him her craft. Unknown to Rellevan, her child was a spawn of Bhaal, taking up the form of her lover.

 Late into her pregnancy with her son, Rellevan contracted a strain of vampirism𑁋 though was later cured of it. However, the infection had stayed long enough in her system to infect her son, who was born a dhampir. Because of his Bhaalspawn blood, he acted more voracious than a normal dhampir infant. 

She named her son Hellebore, after her favorite flower. Later, when he choses his adult elf name, Hellebore chooses Ameianoite, after the time of night he loves the most. He incorporates his former name as his middle name, in honor of his mother.

Ameianoite grew up without a consistent place to call home. The closest thing he could describe is probably the tent he and his mother shared as they traveled for her work. Very rarely did they ever stay in a city or village, which often meant he had little social interaction with people other than his mother. They wasted nothing from her hunts, using every bit of animal she caught to make sure their death was not in vain. The two of them offered up his mother’s bounties to their god Jergal, though later Ameianoite’s faith would twist into a devotion to Bhaal.

Throughout his childhood and well into adulthood, he struggled with insomnia and vivid nightmares thanks to his bhaal-spawn blood. He often sleep-walked and killed roaming animals near their camp, being found with a blank stare and blood all over him. Both he and his mother believe it’s due to his nature as a dhampir, so𑁋as he got older and much harder to handle in this state𑁋Rellevan locks him up when Ameianoite can sense the Urge coming down. He actually doesn’t find out he is bhaalspawn until he confronts Orin in Baldur’s Gate 3.

As he (and by extension, his mind) matured, the easier it was for him to fight off the nightmares and have a normal night's rest, now typically only triggering every new moon.

Despite Rellevan’s best efforts in keeping him safe from her adversaries, he was often caught in the crossfire and he became very good at packing up and leaving at a moment’s notice. His mother also taught him how to hunt and defend himself, becoming her bounty hunter apprentice as soon as he could pick up a blade. Despite this, he always had an affinity for medicine. Ameianoite picked up on ways to dress wounds and other ailments far faster than any other skill he was taught.

He spent most of his life as a bounty huntrt until he became a doctor in the 1350s.

Adulthood -

When Ameianoite ventured to the surface with his mother, they hopped around cities until they settled in Neverwinter. It soon came to pass, though, that his mother wanted to travel again while Ameianoite wanted to stay. So they split, promising to write to each other often. It was there he met his half-sibling, A’starteh, who coerced him into Bhaal worship. There, Ameianoite lived a double life as a certified doctor and follower of Bhaal. He became especially well known for taking on risky surgeries successfully. Though every new moon, one of his patients would befall a gruesome death, by some misfortune. Ame believed that any who died under his care were destined to do so. Ameianoite very much thought of death as a beautiful thing, a thing to revere. His sacrifices to Bhaal may have been few compared to his other spawn, but they were grand.

 He was known for giving very lavish rituals to his offerings, under the disguise that it was a grand funeral to the deceased’s families, which gave him a very altruistic reputation amongst the east side of Faerun.

He was a practicing doctor during the Spellplauge (1385 DR - 1395 DR), contracting a spellscar across his left eye. 

Captured by Mindflayers -

Ameianoite was a well-known mercenary known as “Midnight” before he retired in Neverwinter. However, due to A’starteh’s involvement, he took up assassin work with Gortash as his personal hitman. A’starteh was the Chosen of Bhaal before Orin struck him and Ameianoite (who was A’starteh’s bodyguard) down. Ame was captured in 1492 DR, Year of Three Ships Sailing by a Mind Flayer ship and probed with a modified tadpole. With his amnesia, his mental fortitude was back to when he was a kid and his bhaal-spawn nightmares became more frequent. (Every few days as opposed to every new moon)

Gods of Death -

In the years he lived in Neverwinter, before the Nautiloid, he worshiped Bhaal under the pretense he was an aspect of Jergal, often using their names interchangeably. 

As of 1492 DR Hellebore only worships the concept of death. This change is due to a crisis of faith upon having his memories returned to him, as he did not realize he worshiped Bhaal, and not Jergal, in his past life. He isn’t officially part of the Church of Kelemvor, Jergal, or the Raven Queen, but happens to follow some of their practices, like praying for spells at dusk, a time of day representative of the end of life.

    Very much a gentle giant. Ameianoite looks intimidating, but is very sweet and loves helping people. Despite hiding behind his mask, he’s incredibly sincere even with strangers, tending to be the non-judgmental type.

He’s very family oriented, and considers his close friends as part of his family. Despite how friendly he is though, he doesn’t have many friends just due to his shyness. 

Ameianoite’s intimidating stature isn’t just for show though, he was trained to kill. He knows his body loves the violence, the gore, the blood—yet he does his best not to dwell on it. He tries his best not to go too far—desecrating a body after death is abhorrent to him—but he won’t cry over killing someone…. Unless it was someone he knew beforehand. He doesn’t murder, in his eyes, because he sees murder as precalculated.

In the past, Ameianoite was very similar to how he is in the present, however he was ignorant to how much evil he was causing. He was essentially brainwashed by the Cult of Bhaal, twisting the ideals his mother taught him of death. While he was Bhaal-spawn, he didn’t have a high ranking due to the “presence” of Bhaal in him being quite muted in comparison to his siblings.

He hunts for his own food and, like his mother before him, uses every bit of the animal he can. He’s very resourceful, so anything he doesn’t use he ends up selling.
