  What it says on the tin, and probably one of Shadow's more noticable traits. He regularly states how he hates everybody, and in general has the surly demeanor to back the statement up. However, he cares a lot about his friends and, even if he denies it, his sister.

• Genre Savvy
  

  Unlike most of the residents of Wearisville, Shadow is what is known as Genre-Savvy. While he isn't aware of all tropes, it does mean that he is aware when events will play out a certain way based on one trope or another, and in general is aware that the town functions by following these tropes on a regular basis. It sometimes causes him to have odd reactions to certain situations.

• Hypocritical Heartwarming
  

  Shadow will regularly make fun of his Sister, even stepping over the line in some occassions (though, he usually is sorry in those latter situations). But if you dare try and pull the same stunts, then you will definitely regret it.

• Big Brother Instinct
  

  As much as he repeatedly states he doesn't like his sister, Shadow will often go out of his way to protector or possibly even seek vengence for her.

• Medium Awareness
  

  It is not very strong, and it's arguable that he doesn't actually have it. But, Shadow will sometimes use words like "Pages" or "Panels" to describe the passage of time instead of ones like 'days' or 'hours'

Shadow is my oldest character, as such he's had a few changes since he was made. I created him somewhere between 2000-2002. So, around when I was 8 or 9. He was originally created as a character for the GURPS tabletop roleplaying system, and man if I ever find that old character sheet I am slapping it up here ASAP because it would be funny. Funfact: He actually started off as a Shapeshifter! And didn't even have a set design at the time. Anyway, I actually used this character in multiple GURPS games, reusing the name, and basic concept. But, no clear statement that it was the same character. Around early 2003 he got his first actual design, thus solidifying him as a Singular character.

This original design was described as a sort of 'central' shape he usually took, and was the one I primarily drew in class. As such, the doodles were almost exclusively in Pencil/Graphite, and when it wasn't- it was in Pen. Actually, he's pretty close to the same design-wise. (unlike several of my characters which have gotten insane redesigns). Pretty much the only thing that has changed is his clothing.

The design was an anthro cat, drawn terribly and using those Chistopher Hart books that I know you've all seen as reference. Had the two cheek-stripes, and the black tail-tip. Alternated between having a cloak and sword or not, but he always had a large belt with pouches, (Original designs were in Fantasy-Esque settings). Though, that wasn't always obvious because usually he got drawn as a blob and not actually full-body.

At some point he picked up the googles, I honestly have no idea when besides 'after he was made' and 'Before 2007' and his character concept and design got a more sci-fi bent for...Middleschool Logic and Reasons I'm guessing. He was still a Shapeshifter. But, he was a race of aliens that never got named, ever. It was also around now where he picked up a Family- including his sister, Amber. Like any proper protagonist though, their parents never got named and vanished into non-existance almost instantly. Given all these things added though, he still was never given an Age, just this vague 'older than me', 'Highschool-ish', or 'Young Adult' at best. BUT! More importantly, he got colored.

Okay, saying he got colored is a bit of an exaggeration. I attempted to give him colors after I came up with a colorscheme for Amber. But, nothing looked right. None of them 'fit' and it drove me absolutely bonkers. I had been drawing him with strictly Graphite and Pen for about 5-6 years at this point, with 'daily' being barely an exaggeration thanks to School-Doodles. So, he isn't colored Greys/Blacks because his name is Shadow. And he isn't named Shadow because the design is Greys/Blacks. He's literally colored greyscale because I had been drawing him like that for so long that nothing else looks right. In fact, at this point (2005-2006-ish), I didn't even give him any color accents. He was purely greyscale, eyes and all. Other characters I had at the time (because at this point I had made a few more) I doodled together comic-like in something I called Comic Catastrophy, because I couldn't spell.
(Honestly, I fought with myself if I should keep the Y since Contastrophe usually implies mistakes. Ended up changing it, but the nostalgia is still there.)

He got a major visual-rehaul a bit before that 2007 bullet point earlier (his "full body" design at least). A friend helped me design him this time. He kept his goggles, loose belt, and general appearance (ie: the cheek stripes+tail-tip). But, gained a t-shirt, and a pair of jeans where one of the legs had a fire pattern, and in general gained a more JRPG appearance. Hilariously, his current design mainly spawned from forgetting specific details of that design enough times I just dropped them off on purpose.

Now we finally reach the modern-day and his current design and concept. If you can't tell, his early designs and such were based a lot on Anime and Videogames. Currently, he draws a lot on classic cartoons, specifically the giant mallet he now weilds. Though, his affinity for explosives is nothing new and he still takes a lot of pointers from videogames. He was finally given an age, 14. Which, honestly is next-to being purely based on his Creation-Age when I made this profile. It was ultimately picked because that age generally fits his current character/concept.
