Ether is a Marring (Demon-adjacent entities capable of dimension hopping, that reside in the Corridors; a mirror dimension that vaguely reflects ours.)
After the Kaylus trial, Ether gets a knack for having a body, and shifts over to the human world. They run around as a human for a while with Leto (another marring), before getting kicked out of their apartment for being a dick.
Then they meet November, a Marring sent by the Corridors to find rouge Marrings and return them. Ether isn’t too pleased with this, and they strike a deal: Ether will help them collect the Marrings, and in return, November will keep quiet about them being in the human realm.
It seems like the perfect setup, right?
