Velaris Darcenell

    Velaris Darcenell has always had an interest in knowledge, a strong desire to learn— it's that very interest that has led to much grief in his life. The pursuit of forbidden magic caused his father disowning and casting him away from wealthy noble life, as well as catching the interest of the vile God of Necromancy. Even so, he manages to keep a calm, collected air about him (most of the time). He can come off as stuck up at times and has difficulty opening up to others, but he does care about the people he's met in his travels...

    Velaris was previously possessed by the dead god Velsharoon, who resurrected him after he was killed by an acid dragon. During that time, the god was always watching, listening, and even prying into his thoughts. Velaris managed to betray Velsharoon and be free of his grasp thanks to the efforts of his traveling companions, friends made along the way, and himself.

    While possessed, his body was rotting over time and eventually reached a fully rotted, skeletal state. He was miraculously healed after ridding of the dead god, yet his hair remained stark white and not without more than a few scars. ...His hair will grow back black again, surely.

    Velaris has a crush on his friend and mentor, Einjar, but hasn't fully processed how deep his feelings go. Right now he's more focused on finding a way to free Einjar from the dungeon he's been trapped in for 49 years...

    He has a familiar named Sabelyne (or Sable for short), a long-haired black cat. Unfortunately, he hasn't had much time to get to know her yet, given the rush to stop Velsharoon's plans...

    Backstory

  

• Velaris Darcenell was born to a wealthy family in high elven society, the second son of a diplomat for the Elven King. His family is composed of his father and parent, Gorluin and Raevyn Darcenell, an older brother, Armond, and younger twin sisters, Alora and Glorianiel.     
• His upbringing was mostly comfortable. Even from a young age, he far surpassed his peers in his studies, particularly with magic. When he was an adolescent, barely 100 years of age, he pulled from the academy and put into private studies. Sometime after entering adulthood, his parents hired a new mentor for him to learn from: Einjar Brynholm.     
• Given his interest in all knowledge, surely even the forbidden is worth knowing! At the age of 176 (equal to 21), by pure chance—or perhaps not?—Velaris obtained his first necromancy spell, eagerly transcribing it to his spellbook and thus obtaining a mysterious mark on his neck. That evening, the God of Necromancy Velsharoon appeared before him and revealed that he must restore him as a god. Given little time to consider as Einjar's life began to be drained before him, Velaris swears he will follow and do anything.     
• Shortly after the dead god takes his leave, Velaris' father discovers him and Einjar, and the curse mark on his son's neck. In a fit of rage, Gorluin nearly destroys Einjar, only ceasing as Velaris cries and begs for mercy. It is then that he's disowned and forced to leave alone, without Einjar who will be apprehended by elven authorities, never to return home again.
