grandparents are polish immigrants. grew up in a military family. father is a high ranking officer in the navy. Joined army at 18 with medic designation. hoped to go to medical school to become a surgeon. achieved E-6 rank. did first combat tour at twenty in the middle east. elected to continue going back, unable to adjust to non-combat life. was dishononrably discharged due to whistleblowing on a unit's planned assault and murder of two young women along with the cover-up attempt. was framed for causing the death of several service members under his medical charge. unable to work much better than a customer service job, much less continue as a doctor. ended up starting patching up the costa family after a brief stint as a bartender. it pays better, even if it technically goes against his morales. has severe ptsd, an untreated TBI, and several poorly healed broken bones he's unable to take care of.despite hating violence, has a temper and has a tendency toward it.
