She's the titan who has stood tall in the face of darkness and all of its thralls, the one who has shouldered the burden of this galaxy's fate. She does this without complaint, without question, without regard for her own wellbeing. But someone has to. Who else, if not her?

Character

Charisma:
Kindness:
Integrity:
Confidence:
Temper:
Intellect:

From the moment of her resurrection, to her arrival at the Tower, and the subsequent events that have followed through the centuries, Virtue has been the near-perfect protector and favourite of the Vanguard. She is loyal to a fault, hard-working, diligent and honest. This has ensured her the position of carrying out many of the orders that assist in protecting Earth's tower and Last City.

However, she also has a spark about her. When something hits close to home, her temper can rear its ugly head. She will eventually reign it in, but it takes a lot of deep breaths and positive thinking to do so. In addition to this, she is so, so, very stubborn. Following her principles for as long as she has leads her into believing that she is in the right most of the time. Still, for those she's close to, she has a teasing sense of humour and a hug that could warm even the coldest of hearts.

Background

Virtue was resurrected on the red sands of Mars, far away from any civilisation or suggestion of her past life. She woke up with cracked lips, dry throat and a scrambled mind that had forgotten how to speak, how to walk, how to function. It took hours of painstaking instruction from her ghost, Rocky, to get her from those dunes and eventually, find a ship and make it to the tower.

From there, Virtue found her purpose with the vanguard and trained hard to be the best she could possibly be. She started like most did - running basic patrols and small elimination missions. Her first, big win came in the shape of the Black Garden, where she destroyed the Black Heart and returned light to the traveller. Noting her success in such a high-stakes mission, Virtue soon became the go-to guardian in a crisis, and followed this victory with many more, including when she slayed the Taken King and thus stamped her name in the books and minds of those within the galaxy.

Though she played her part in the Red War, Virtue was not the predominant hero. This role was instead taken by a fairly new guardian, Altair, an awoken hunter. Following Ghaul's defeat, Virtue ran a few missions with Altair and got to know him and his ghost on a superficial level. It wasn't until Cayde's death and Altair's quest for vengeance that she begrugingly got to know him better.

From there, Virtue and Altair have been continuing working together to save the traveller and thus, the galaxy from destruction. They've faced down Gods and learnt of alternate timelines where everything falls apart, and still, despite it all, they stand together before the abyss.

Notes

  • Virtue's ghost's name is Rocky
  • Though she prefers the sentinel subclass, she's naturally more inclined towards arc abilities
  • Those close to her affectionately know her as 'Big Blue'
  • In her previous life, her name was 'Preja' and she was an awoken scientist
  • Her favourite place to patrol is the Cosmodrome

Relationships

Altair [ one word couldn't describe him ]

The relationship that Altair and Virtue have is so complicated, so difficult to describe that even Virtue, if asked, could only sigh. On a good day, they're dear friends, siblings, partners at the end of the universe. On bad days, they're mortal enemies, rivals, and thorns in each others' sides. Regardless of their moods, the two are co-dependent. They've known each other for multiple lifetimes, and understand the plight and loneliness that heroes of their calibre must face. They've saved each other a hundred times and would do so a hundred more. They've got each other's backs. They'd kill for each other. They'd die for each other. They may be bickering and arguing and spitting and fighting, but at the end of the day, there's no one else.

Zavala [ boss/friend ]

There is no one in the galaxy that Virtue would trust more than Zavala. From the day she arrived at the tower, he welcomed her and thereafter, showed a faith and belief in her that is instilled even now. Whenever she feels she has strayed from her path and principles, she knows that Zavala would set her right and there's a comfort in the stability that he brings.
