× Considering Oskar's amazing habit of forgetting the names of other people, alongside the inability of recognicing their faces, it shouldn't be much of a surprise that a "detail-specific" nickname would be born, at some point...unfortunatly for Nicolas his easy to recognize features seem to be his ears...or well the round and pink markings on his snow white fur. In all honesty there's worse than having the nickname "Polka Dots".
× In all his time relying on the older Nicolas is unable to recall even the smallest of situation where his Benefactor had gone out of his way to call the younger by his actual name. To his credit as irritating has Lance allergy to names may be, he never reused the same nickname twice...which is kind of an impressive feat in itself.
× To be completely honest maybe he shouldn't be calling Virgil a "dead guy" all the time...the teenager is slowly getting the feeling he's annoying the immortal greatly if his newly earned nickname "stray" or "thief" has any say in it. Nico isn't really bothered by it, there aren't a lot of words that could better describe him than those words, Virgil just doesn't seem to be the most creative of the bunch.
× His personal favorite nickname is "Nico" as simple and boring as it may seem at first glance. He likes to use the shortened version of his name when introducing himself to other people. There's no special or complex reason for it, in his opinion four letters are just faster to spell and remember than a full on name.
Meaning
Nicolas is another form of 'Nikolaus' a male given name of Greek origin, both variations of the name have appeared in the Bible and would loosely translate to 'victory' or 'people', his last name on the other hand is pretty much self explanatory.

Nico is single, the teenager never experienced a serious and longlasting relationship. He was close to being in one with another teen from his hometown but before he could confess and ask them out on a date, he discovered that they were already in a relationship and madly in love, so he just left them alone.
Nico has the habit on falling fast, it's scarily easy for him to develop a crush on someone after knowing them for a few hours. It's not because he's a hopeless romantic, Nico does know how to keep a respectable distance to other people or tone his feelings down as to not make a situation awkward for his newfound crush, it's just easy for him to get attached to other people.
That's said Nico isn't interested in a relationship, he usually finds his fast changing or developing attachments of giddy warmth quite bothersome and doesn't even entertain the thought of confessing in the first place, because he's very well aware that whatever crush he has now will wear a new name in about a week or so.

Nico was born in Noverah, a Port City in the southern region of Lost and the Islands second largest City just after the Capital of Sander. Also known as "the Harbour frozen in time", Noverah is highly beloved for its medieval architecture and ancient traditions that remain seemingly untouched even by the passage of time.
Perhaps it's due to this title, the beautiful nature and the high traffic of Merchants traveling through the Port everyday, in order to restock on needed supplies for their journey to the other Kingdoms while praising also praising their high in quality and sought after wares, that over time the City became a famous travel destination, with most businesses soly gathering to tourism as their main source of income.
➡ Nico never left Noverah, never had the intention or means to anyway, but unfortunately for him the Orphanage he had spent most of his life in burned down in an unfortunate accident. Never having meet his Parents and never having been picked as a possible adoption candidate, the back then thirteen year old boy along a few other unlucky children were forced to turn to the street instead.
Current Home
According to the Mercenary the abandoned Church located on a hill in the outskirts of the City once was used as a base of operation back when relations with Lost had been rocky at best. Ever since the relationship of both Country's has started to change for the better, the old and run down building had lost its use,- no one ever truly comes by this place.
It's far from perfect, there's a large hole in the center of the roof, the building so ancient that it's unable to keep in the warmth, the church's whole structure in danger of tumbling down in on itself at every second. Yet the little thief never complained, it's the closest thing an orphan abandoned on the street will ever get to a roof above his head.
➡ That said ever since Lance became his Benefactor and introduced him to a scamming b*st*rd of an unpredictable Shopkeeper, the Hybrid had made it a habit of setting up camp inside the shop when staying inside the church becomes to unbearable. It's gotten to the point where Oskar had gone out of his way to buy a sofa, to make the shop appear more cozy and presentable no other reason, and continuesly forgets to close up the shop proberly in the months the temperature drops drastically.

Nico doesn't have any Tattoo's whatsoever, but he does have a habit of drawing colorful stars or stars on his cheeks when he's bored, makes him look more adorable in his opinion.
Special Traits
His snow white ears and tail are adored by pink spots, which appear similar to polka dots. The color is completely natural and if you look close enough the biggest spot on his tail will form a heart.
Clothing Type
Nico doesn't have a set style, he takes what he can get most of his clothes are either stolen or found thrown out anyway. He doesn't care what he's wearing as long as it's serves it's purpose, is easy to move around in and doesn't irritate his sensitive tail. That said, Nico will actively avoid anything made of wool like the pleague.
Favorite Clothes
His "favorite" outfit consists of a short sleeved jacket, a pair of brown shorts and black boots. The outfit is finished up by a bright pink scarf and a ton of bandaid all over his skin.
Soulband
A Soulband is an internationally issued device disguised as a black band with a neon glowing light, which is given out to registered citizens of each Nation right after their birth. Due to each citizen receiving their device in the first moments of their live, the public tends to see these Soulbands as an individuals first gifts besides their name.
These devises are essential items to those that wish to fully function in Andorn or move between Country's without facing any issues, seeing as Soulbands serve a variety of different purposes intended to make a citizens life easier: from personal ID able to information specifically tailored to the owner of the device such as their Height, Age, Species, Blood type, Appearance, address, occupation or birthday etc. they also double as a bankaccount while storing information about an individuals contacts, ticket-information, travelpass, health, criminal record or current location.
While the sensitive data collected by the device faces a high risk of getting potentially abused by either government or third parties, it's widely believed that under normal circumstances said information would come in handy until absolutely necessary. That said the glowing light of the device serves a specific purpose as well, because during its invention each Nation had been assigned a specific color.
In other words the glowing light of the item can be used to quickly tell where it's owner originates from without hawing to look up personal files and search for their Nationality. Yet, despite all the good that comes from wearing these devices, from all the promises to supposedly make life easier and less stressful for it's owner, wearing these items is not a choice.
According to the law under no circumstances is the Owner allowed to take their Soulband off, furthermore these devices have to be worn in a place where they are easily accessible and to see, costumizing or decorating is also seen as against the law,- breaking these rules will come with its own set of consequences. Despite these limitations the Owner of a Soulband is free to wear their device wherever they please, as long as it's easy for officials to spot. Some may choose to wear their Soulband around their neck, others around their feet or wrist, while wanted criminals...where none at all.

Detailed Explanation
Not all Inks are senseless Monsters, much like us Humans and Animals Inks too were able to evolve,- the result of this evolution are widely known as Hybrids.
Hybrids are a sub category of Inks which slowly evolved and separated itself from its more animalistic predecessors after the development of a consciousness and intelligence. Over time their appearance became more humanoid even though their animalistic features and traits never fully left. Hybrids aren't as blood thirsty and aggressive as their relatives, able to freely communicate and interact with Humans without issues, even live among them in peace!
Yet even though they may appear Human, they aren't, Hybrids for starters have a shorter lifespan than Humans with the majority not even able to survive through their childhood stage. While there haven't been a lot of research conducted on this species due to their rarety and low survivability, the information that does exist of this sub species may be able to answer why:
The creation of Hybrids itself was a mistake, a freakish experiment of nature never intended to survive in the wild. Their short lifespans are a result of a weak immunsystem and a body unable to fully adapt. Due to their appearance and awareness Inks reject them as one of their own, due to their animalistic traits and close relation to the Monstrous creatures Humans fear them, mistrusting them as well as labeling Hybrids as nothing more than a ticking time bomb, a disaster waiting to happen.
Hybrids can't survive in the wild, their body's aren't made to adapt to their surroundings or the climate, their intelligence prevents them from fitting in with the Monsters while Humans reject them for their heritage.
It's why Hybrids themselves label their own existence as a curse not a blessing.
Species
Nicolas was born with the animalistic features and traits of a spotted mini Rex, a breed of domestic rabbit first making their debut 1984 in Florida by the late Monna Berryhill of Texas. The Rex mutation, derived in France in the 19th century, is recessive and causes the hair to protrude outwards from the body, instead of lying flat, and the guard hairs to be shortened to the length of the undercoat. - from google
Abilities [animalistic]
➡ Sensitive ears, rabbits can hear extremely well able to pick up sounds from 2 miles away and rotate their ears 270 degrees in either direction in order to quickly locate the direction a predator might be coming from. Their big ears also help in regulating their temperature on a hot day.
➡ powerful jumps, rabbits can jump incredibly high and far thanks to their strong hind legs. The muscles in those legs also allow them to run really fast or be agile in general. That said without the intelligence or instincts to quickly calculate on how high to jump or how much force they would need, their muscles would be off much help.
➡ This ability only helps Nico in his animal form but rabbits have a nearly perfect 360 vision and are far sighted, meaning they can view their entire suroundings, except for a small blinds pot right in front of their noses, at once without issues due to the location of their eyes inside their skulls.
Ability [Hybrid]
Due to their close relation to Inks, Hybrids are born without a core meaning they are physically unable to store or create mana and therefore can't use magic. This doesn't mean they are helpless, as all Hybrids are born with a powerful ability that is individual to them, like a fingerprint, and purely controlled by their instincts,- in other words unlike spells in magic, a Hybrid is unable to swap out the nature of their ability in order to use a different one or use them at will. Just like magic however the prize of overusing an ability will be their lives.
➡ In Nicolas case his ability is called "Insomnia" a very misleading name for something doing the complete opposite to what it's name would lead you to believe. To keep it short Insomnia allows Nico to move faster than light, allowing him to quickly run away from a threat or angry crowd and aid him in his numerous petty crimes.
➡ That said while moving in the speed of light or even faster seems fun this ability does come with a wide array of disadvantages or drawbacks. For example due to how fast he moves it's incredible hard to change the course of direction he is running into, which means that if he miscalculates, overestimates himself or looses track of his surroundings Nico could very easily run straight into nearby threat without being able to stop or get away.
➡ While using Insomnia Nico will through his stamina and energy two times faster than he normally would. Which causes him to have a larger appetite than the average person or sleeps a lot longer. Another drawback of his ability is the fact that he will automatically fall asleep if he is unable to restore his lost energy in time, depending on how long he had used his ability for a thirty minute nap could quickly turn into a day or two.
➡ For example if he uses his Ability for 15 minutes, he needs to sleep 30 minutes, since the energy he loses is twice as much, so 15x2.

Education
Nicolas used to go to a public school, until he dropped out in 9 grade, if you go by his grades alone he could have made it farther, but due to behavior issues and a lack of respect for his teachers, he only made it to graduation in nineth grade.
Occupation
He could use his Ability to help others, he could use his smarts to get an actual job, become independent and get away from the streets. But instead he uses his smarts, dexterity and ability to trick others and steal from them. Smal petty crimes, nothing actually hurt anybody. He sometimes does work as a courier for his "friends" too, assisting them in their shady business. At the end of the day, Nicos nothing more than a kid that grew up in the wrong place, with the wrong people and no one to show him how to do better.

Nico has an affiliation with "little potions" due to the courier work he occasionally does for the owner of the tiny Alchemie shop, his connection to Oskar also helps Nico find his way around the black market.

Personality
➡ Nicolas lives in the day, he doesn't make plans for the future or looks forward to anything, since he knows that his live, as he knows it, can drastically change from one moment to the other. Whether he loses the slowly collapsing theater he calls his home, or his so called "friends" get arrested for one of their crimes and snitch on him, for being associated with their gangs and business.
➡ Nico is a smart and calm person, it takes some effort to make him mad, but when he does he isn't affraid to protect the ones he cares for, a person in need of help, or himself, though he tents to put others before his well being first...its a subscouncious act he got used to, after being the oldest in the orphanage and having to help take care for the children younger than him. He tents to act recklessly, ignoring the limits of what his body can take, he also often jumps into action without thinking first, which often than not gets him into pretty sticky situation.
➡ He's clumsy, childish, stubborn, hot-headed, a little perfectionists with a strong moral compass and "anti" hero complex,- he doesn't view himself as a good person though quite the opposite actually. Sensitiv, curious, patient most times, but also tense, he has troubles trusting others, he can be manipulative especially if he isn't close to that person yet he usually uses manipulative tactics to trick others on the streets, he would never manipulate anyone to actually harm or scar them, he's a liar and sly for much the same reason.
➡ He love's to cuddle or hug others and can be pretty loving, affectionate towards whoever catches his eye, but he also can get jealous easily, though he would never act it out, maybe pout or ignore his lover for a while by jumping through conclusions way to fast l, but he would never do something to hurt the person he loves neither emotionally or physically,- he is a crybaby, breakups or unrequited love are painful for him, though if it happens he desperately try to play it of as nothing serious, in front of his ex/crush, before breaking down when he knows no one's there to witness him crying his eyes our or blaming himself over and over again.

➡ Ophidiophobia: The fear of snakes, once when he was a little kid he found a smal snake near the marked, being the curious little kid he was, the child picked the snake up, startling it, so in return the snake did the only thing it could do to protect themself,- they bite the young child directly in the nose, in shock Nico let the Snake go before crying his eyes out,- he disliked snakes ever since.

➡ Nico has a habit of reapeteddly tapping with his right foot if he gets inpatient, another habit of his is chewing on his finger nails whenever he feels either nervous/scared or drawing on his cheeks when he feels bored.
Likes
➡ pickpocketing some poor Passants on the streets, it was the first skill he learned as a little kid, getting dumped on the streets for the first time.
➡ Ice-cream and carrots, Nicolas has quite the sweet tooth. It doesn't matter what it just needs to be delicious, but watchout if you give him to much, he might get a sugar rush, good luck trying to catch a literal bouncing ball.
➡ tutoring, it sounds boring but Nico's rather talented in explaining stuff to others, especially children, maybe, just maybe, if he wasn't raised in a bad environment he would've become a primary teacher.
➡ Pat's behind his ears, strangely enough it seems to calm him down and helps him to relax, he has the habit of falling asleep on the others lap or against another's shoulders, moving his tail slightly or just sighing contently, while just enjoying himself and loving each touch against his fluffy ears. His tail is a no-go though, he will hiss at you or bite your Finger if you try anything weird with it.
➡ dress up, Nico loves to play dress up and he doesn't care what he wears as long as it is colorful, comfy and cool, in his eyes, enough for him to wears. He even would wear dresses or a skirt, if he wants to or find something he likes, he doesn't really care...but would caught dead if he were to wear it publicly, getting easily ashamed and embarrassed over his hobby.
➡ He loves parkour, although he is very bad and clumsy at it, getting most of his bruises and skretches from there, he does love his sport, or any fun sport competition in general, if it means for him to get this extra energy out his system and tire himself out.
➡ sleeping, he doesn't care were he sleeps exactly but finds it easier for him to sleep in an environment he feels safe in, sniffling familiar scents or hugging something protectively.
➡ playing catch, he sorta made it his hobby to annoy the other gangs, even having a few encounters with low tugs, associated to the mafia, let's just say they aren't very fond of him.
➡ sewing, he's still learning how to, but he actually did sew his outfit all by himself, out of some old thrown away clothes and fabric he could find, he's proud of his work but selfcounsious over his hobby.
➡ story telling, he loves to think about possible story's he could tell somebody, though he believes that no one would put actual time in hearing about his nonsense, often times his story's are over dramatic real life events or adventures he read in a fairy tail when he was younger. ➡ other people, although he is an extrovert he does have a hardtime trusting others whether it's a stranger, someone who's trying to help him or a "friend".
➡ authorities, why should he like them? Why should he trust them? Why should he follow the rules and behave? If all the System has done, was to dump him on the streets, leaving him at his own mercy, knowing from a very young age that there was no family who would want to adopt someone like him, and having this knowledge getting nailed in his head over and over again, with his hope getting high before getting smashed apart, over and over again. He's tired of this.
➡ Dark places and horrorfilms, they freaks him out especially if he is all alone by himself and it's quiet.
➡ Drugs, he tried on once, and he regretted it afterwards promising himself to never do something like that again.
➡ getting disrupted or forcefully woken up, he get's pissy if you do, a true Crumpy Cat trapped in a cute bunny's body. He also can't stand people hurting others for fun and entertainment, he hates violence, but wouldn't hestiante to start a fight and hurt others, if he sees a good reason to.

Nicolas never met his Parents and seeing as he never expressed a wish to know anything regarding his biological Parents the Orphanage who's care he had been left in never bothered to give him any leads to their whereabouts or circumstances that had lead to his and his brothers abandonment.

Nicolas has only one blood relative, his older twin brother Kai, a Human boy with light red hair but dark green eyes, glasses and freckles. Kai is more like the calculated, rational type of person, thinking first before going into action and trying to understand his or another's situation first before deciding on a judgment.
Hearing them talk and help them by simply being there for them, showing empathy unlike his younger twin sibling. Growing up they were joined at the hip partners in crime who did everything together, but that soon changed after Kai was adopted...and Nico was left behind, with his twins siblings new family leaving for another City. Nicolas hasn't heard anything from his Brother since and ever since that accident, he doubts that this will change.

Hidden Warmth | Orphanage | burned down
With the Government refusing to support an institution openly treating Hybrids as equals and raising them along side Human children, believing both parties to deserve equal parts of an save and loving environment, the small Orphanage lacked funds to support itself.
Due to this Noverah had no choose but depend on the people for the survival of the run down wreck of a building, with the majority of the Institutions staff being volunteers from nearby. Inorder to feed the children living in the understaffed building the Orphanage had to rely on their own crops and vegetables or livestock they grew, raised and managed themself while toys and clothes were often time nothing more than donations from the people living nearby.
When Nico was about thirteen years old the Institution tragically burned down in what was believed to be an unfortunate accident. While a handful of lives had been lost the children who did survive where either forced to relocate into a different Orphanage nearby, who struggled to care more children into their care, or were tragically abandoned on the streets.
In Nicola case he had been the later, not because the Orphanage the Headmaster intended to sent him to lacked in funds or space but because they simply refused to take a hybrid under their care.

The children often called her a witch due to her never appearing to visibly age, despite the Headmaster nearing her fifties to those who would meet her for the first time, she could easily be mistaken to be ten or even twenty years younger. It never bothered her, on the contrary Cecilia would often be seen playing into the childrens imagination by dressing up as a witch or boasting about her deceivingly young appearance to not be a result of her experience using makeup or genes but a special potion instead!
Lady Cecilia dedicated her live into creating a same heaven for abandoned or abused human and hybrid children a like, which would both cause her to be respected by the local citizens for her confident and righteous attidute or loved and feared by the children for her "typical grandma behaviour" and strict nature but also become a thorne in the Government's eyes for refusing to bow down to their will, lick their boots or close down the institution for their lack of funds. Her personality and attitude in believing that all children deserve to be treated equally no matter their heritage, human or monster, would often be the cause of many heated arguments.
If you ask Nicolas the orphanage burning down hadn't been a unfortunate accident at all, while he isn't sure on who caused the fire or why it's easy to imagine that the culprit was one of Lady Cecilia's many enemy's with the crime simply being covered up by the media. Nico still remembers how the Headmaster had wailed over the deaths cursing whoever was responsible and pleading for the forgiveness of the children she could no longer protect and care for.
Popuri Nielson | Volunteer | Human | alive
Popuri Nielson was a rather popular volunteer in the orphanage due to her experience in handling children as a primary teacher. Popuri was known to have the "patience of a saint" and the children loved her for her soft spoken and kindhearted nature. Nico and his brother Kai had quite a close relationship with her, going as far as claiming her to be their "Mother", never leaving her side and throwing a tantrum whenever she needed to leave or was needed somewhere else. The other volunteers would often joke about Popuri capturing the hearts of whoever she came across.
Two years before the accident that caused the Orphanage to burn down, Popuri meet the love of her live and ended up moving away once they got married, just like his brother Nico hasn't heard from her since...he doubts she remembers the bratty hyperactive child she had used to take care off, after all he was just a face amongst many.

The last thing Lance expected to encounter during his mission protect a handful citizen from a medium level threat, in need of elimination, terrorizing their city was to find a starving and abandoned child. Sure he had been trained to deal with little humans, how to handle them, how to threat them or what how to bring them somewhere safe but he is an android for crying out loud!
While his Creator designed him with the intention to resemble a child as closely as possible his code never wanted him to showcase anything close to human emotion. Of course he can fake it, use the data and studies he collected on human behaviors in order to imitate feeling empathy, sympathy or compassion as closely as possible but at the end of the day it wouldn't come close to the real thing.
So while Lance wasn't programmed for such purpose and the humanity he feels or emotions he displays don't even come close to the real thing and are nothing more than imitations, he's willing to entertain this little bundle of joy for a while longer. Lance never expected their relationship to grow this close, never intended to become a benefactor for the bratty thief but he doesnt mind it much.
Nico on the other hand loves his older brother figure, even if he enjoys throwing a hissy fit whenever Lance takes on a more Mentor-ask role and attempts to lecture or teach him a life lesson. Sure the android can be annoying when he bosses the younger around but he's equally as fun! Causing Nico to look forward to their traditional meet ups in the same diner ever first and last day of each month!
In all honesty knowing the Mercenary continues to have his back gives Nicolas a huge boost in confidence.

Their relationship is complicated at best or maybe "rocky" would be a better way to describe whatever bond they share. For starters it's a well known fact that Oskar hates every single mortal being for the simple and stupid reason that they, different to himself, are able to eventually die.
According to Oskar he also would have never bothered to look after Nico if it wasn't for Lance black mailing the hell out of the scheming Alchemist and his reputation as a infamous figure involved with the black market. He still questions the why's actually, why the hell did that stupid trash can choose him out of all people? In his very professional opinion Oskar is the last person he himself would describe as friendly or an good influence for the younger generation.
Doesn't mean he can't exploit the opportunity he was given, someone working for his business he didn't need to pay and only make sure they wouldn't die? Sure he'll take it. Nico doesn't know a whole lot about the older past if he's being honest with himself, it's not like the immortal boasts about it either. From what he could gather from what little information Oskar allows himself to slip out every so often the immortal had used to be a Human? An Vampire Hunter how awesome is that?! Before he accidentally cursed himself with the gift of immortality. Nico kind of gets why Virgil acts so depressiv and gloomy all the time, living forever sound kind of boring not going to lie.
Virgil isn't much of a talker preferring to use non verbal communication in order to get around and while their short interactions with one another are often overtaken by Virgil attempting to kill his boss's Oskar one way or another, the cursed Human does seem to be fond of the teenager even going as far as acting affectionate and treating the thief like a small child, teasing him whenever he gets the chance or keeping an eye out for the other, going out of his way to help or protect the Hybrid even if the latter may act annoyed about it or claim it to be unnecessary.
While Oskar was the one to buy the Sofa claiming to to be useful I order to make his shop appear more comfortable or keeps "forgetting" to close the door proberly in the colder month so that Nico has a way to sneak in an spent the night somewhere warm,- Virgil was the one responsible for making the Sofa appear more comfortable! Hiding Pillows and stacks of blankats throughout the whole store just waiting for the hybrid to explore and find them.

➡ The abandoned church, Nico sleeps in an old hammock, he had found thrown away near the trash can, over a huge hole in the attic of said building. Since the roof has a eagely as huge hole lining almost perfectly with the attic beneath, Nico is able to have both the best view of the floor below as well as the sky and stars above. If he doesn't sleep, steals food, walks or trick tourists, you can find him exploring the old church.
