PERSONALITY
A ball of rage and aggression, West puts up with no bullshit whatsoever. She's an overly ambitious little brat who goes out of her way to make sure no one messes with her or gets any ideas. A very much "swing first, ask questions later" type.
Surprisingly, on top of this aggression...is lowkey mommy issues. Being brought into existence via mitosis from Virginia, she spent a lot of time making sure no one thought of her as even slightly like her. So much so that she hardly made any room for herself. From coal mining to mountain climbing, West is always doing something, always keeping herself busy. Something about doubts and inner demons creeping up on her when she's not doing anything...

-Many debate on when exactly West started to exist. According to Virginia herself, there was always been some kind of issue in her right arm: Mostly twitchiness and general unsteadiness. Regardless, she tried to fix it initially, with limited success
-When she seceded, the initial twitchiness turned into full fledged bursts of pain and what she could swear was something screaming in her head. She still brushed this off as her consciousness screaming at her, rather than something else...
-It came to a head in 1862, when what started as some sensation turned into a horrifying mess of blood and body as West literally broke away from Virginia. Once she was separated, she fled the scene to avoid capture by the confused and enraged Confederate States.
-Met Maryland after crossing the river back into the state, where she was initially mistaken as Virginia. After the confusion was cleared up, she got herself cleaned up and clothed [Poor lass didn't get any in the mitosis], as well as an eyepatch to cover her messed up eye.
-Unfortunately she went into hiding for most of the war after that, mostly in fear of being captured and forcefully merged back with Virginia [all the while battling with her own consciousness screaming at her to "return: become one once more"].
-As the war went on, she eventually grew more as her own person: forging her own path and finding her own passions, mostly centered around mining and climbing.
-In 1871, Virginia herself tried to force West to merge back with her one last time. The attempt failed, luckily, but this event turned a small burning of hatred for her "mother" due to her actions, into an inferno for not only refusing to acknowledge West as her own person but also how she tried to force West to give up her own individuality and merge back with her.
-With the construction of the Railroad, those hobbies turned one hell of a profit, allowing her to have somewhat of a comfortable living for a rather long time.
Present Day
With Coal on the decline and tourism replacing it as a form of income, West has started spending less time in the mines and more time exploring, maintaining and enjoying the mountains and caverns.
While some deep-seated hatred exists, she's somewhat made up with Virginia over the whole mess that was her beginning years. Key word being somewhat.

- -Her left eye's sclera is see through in the majority of said eye..
- -Underneath the coat is a long sleeve shirt, and beneath that is a tank top. Lass wears a lot of layers.
- -Has a lot of climbing rope, and camping equipment in her bag. Most of which is designed to allow one to sleep on the side of a mountain.

RELATIONSHIPS
Virginia
Hooooo boy. Their relationship is long and rocky, starting almost as far back as before the split itself. These two were always at odds, and splitting into two just made that tension far worse. Post split, West made no secret that she DESPISED Virginia for never listening to her on anything, claiming that was the reason for the split. As time went on, she eventually calmed down enough to see Virginia as a equal. These days they have kind of a daughter-mother relationship, though they still fight over things a lot.
Nevada
Was a fellow child of war, and a miner, so in a way, she could relate to this man. They ended up drifting further apart when Nevada started dabbling in gambling, finding some footing in indulgence of sin. She doesn't envy him on this, to be honest: If anything, she's kind of impressed.

TRIVIA
- Has almost fallen to her death way too many times while mountain climbing.
- She will bash your head in if you call her "Little Virginia" or even "West Virginia". Just call her "West" or her human name.
- Can technically see out of her messed up eye, but it's painful and her vision through it sucks.
- Even though she was part of Virginia initially, she bears no confederate symbol anywhere on her person.
