"identify, observe, and if necessary, eradicate."

The Celestial Order of Witchcraft and Wizardry—also known simply as The Order—is a secret organization consisting of magic users of all classifications. Their directive is simple: watch for anomalous existences appearing across the infinite Realms. If an anomaly is found, it is immediately classified and documented in a report... and if it is deemed dangerous, action is taken against it as soon as possible.

The Order operates entirely behind the scenes. Only those who are inducted into its ranks are aware of its existence; the High Council (the five most powerful members of The Order) makes sure of that. Nonetheless, it is a massive organization, housing several thousand members hailing from all across the Realms. Who knows... an Order scout could be observing you right now and you would never know.

THE ORDER'S HEADQUARTERS

The Order's headquarters is located in a space unable to reach without the help of their specialized portaling technology... a sort of negative space between Realms. In order to reach it, one must either be in the company of a High Council seat with their medallions that can create inter-Realm portals, or be in posession of a temporary teleportation crystal to create a portal. Within the Order's headquarters there are four main divisions in which members can work to serve The Order's goal of safety across all realms.

MILITARY DIVISION

The largest of all four divisions, and the one that cycles through members most frequently. Soldiers of the military division are the ones who actually go onto the site of dangerous anomalies and eradicate them before they can become a threat to the Realms. In order to last long in this division, soldiers must be ruthless in battle, and wield only the most powerful magic.

The military division also has special field uniforms that are different to the flowing robes worn within the halls of The Order's headquarters.

SCOUTING DIVISION

If the military division are the ones who kill the anomalies, then the scouting division are the ones who find them. Scouts are assigned to Realms in pairs, and usually placed nearby specific points of interest within their assigned Realm. Scouts often take lodging within floating towers with special crystals seated beneath them. These crystals contain the same magical energy as The Order's teleportation devices, which allow the structures to be easily picked up and moved to a new point within its Realm.

A scout's job is to search their assigned Realm for anomalies, and write reports on them to send back to headquarters. From there, the reports are reviewed, and if the anomaly written within those pages is deemed dangerous by the Council at any point... well, that's where the military division comes in.

intel division

Not an official division like the previous two, the intelligence 'division' consists of a small group of Order members who focus on collecting rumors, led by none other than a High Council seat. They act as spies within their own ranks, sniffing out any trace of rebellion before it has a chance to bloom. It's likely you'll never have to come face to face with one of them. Often times they merely stand in the shadows; watching, waiting, listening. But if they need something from you, they have ways of making you talk.

Not in the sense of torture, of course. The Order needs all of its members in top shape to serve the Realms. Besides, they don't need torture. Merely standing in their silent presence is enough to make a traitor confess all his crimes.

archives and library

Again, not a real division in any sense of the word, but the Council seat who oversees it likes to call these halls of knowledge his 'division.' It's a pride thing, really, and nobody has the energy to question it.

The Order's headquarters is home to both an extensive library and an archive of anomaly reports. The library contains ancient tomes collected from many different realms. Some speak of schools of magic, and serve as a useful tool for any member looking to hone their skills. Others are dictionaries of language, often written by Order members themselves. Any members are free to come and go as they please from either location, and read anything that has been shelved for the general collective to see. But don't venture into the classified rooms. If you do, the overseer will have your head before you can read a single word.

The Order classifies an 'anomaly' as anything that should not exist by the normal laws of the Realm it is found in. Typical hostile mobs, such as zombies and creepers, are not considered anomalies as they exist in all Overworld realms. A dangerous anomaly, by the Order's definition, is not simply an entity that could cause harm to others. To be considered dangerous by The Order's definition, the anomaly in question must not only threaten the lives of the people in that realm, but rather the stability and safety of that realm as a whole.

Anomalies are grouped under one of four classes, with a letter category also assigned to them to indicate threat level. Category S anomalies must always be eradicated immediately upon discovery.

OUTSIDERS

Things that do not belong in the realm and/or dimension they're in.

Category A-B. Not always considered dangerous, but must be kept under tight surveillance.

REALM-LOCKED ANOMALIES

Powerful entities that ONLY exist in one realm but no others. (By this logic, the Ender Dragon is not considered an anomaly, because it exists in all paralell End dimensions.)

Category S. Always considered dangerous.

SURGES

Surges of power or magic that cross a dangerous threshhold for the safety of that realm. Always attached to a source, and that source must be destroyed.

Category S-A, depending on scale. Always considered dangerous.

oddity

Existences that defy the typical laws of nature in a Realm, though these are not nearly as important to document as the others and often times are not deemed dangerous.

Category C-F. Very low priority. Always documented but not often watched.
