Grimveil Alvester

"Don't you realize? This is the end... at least as I will be writing in your blood."

Basic information about him:

Species Classification: Diwamata || Link to Masterlist Entry.

Standing at 6'3, Grimveil is a ravenous demon who will show no hesitation in acting both rashly and savagely. Detached from humanity since his origin in the heavens, he sought the underworld in hopes of finally experiencing what the mortal world had to offer. Yet like a wolf unleashed among the sheep, he quickly found himself infatuated with the newfound sensation of thrill, inciting fear among witnesses of his brutality while harvesting souls of the sinful as a Diwamata. However, one day he would encounter a sorry human who'd change his perspective forever after, Grim finding himself slowly becoming more invested in understanding mortals as more than the prey that would simply fall to his hunger.

The most accurate head-cannon voice actor I know for him is X, specifically his voice for X from X.

Personality; him as a character:

Here are some songs that fit his theme very well: "x".

Carefree and unbothered by most things in life, Grimveil lives for the thrill and is unapologetically himself. His liveliness, confidence and unabashed boldness make him stand out but surely not as much as his fright-inducing tendencies. Though he's grown more reserved with his viscerally unhinged capabilities, at least some of the time, many still find him off-putting even in casual interactions—if, somehow such circumstances were to happen.

If nessary, expanison on personality and behavior.

Story; expand sections:

Where a part of the city had degraded into disarray and became a zone known for pushing a every-man-for-themselves lifestyle, seeing as the law was thin where those unfortunate enough to find themselves stuck there, one human found himself particularly tortured. Every day considered as survival, there was a special kind of hatred that brewed in the defenseless boy against those who picked and beat on him. However, he was far from violent, instead fearful and defenseless when cowering before antagonists.

A day came however when a certain diwamata came prowling through for sinners, attacking and causing a horrifying display that left anyone else its wake screaming and fleeing—all but one who hid behind cover. Filled with anything but fear, he was curious as for once, he saw a figure of power and change. The simple act of approaching the hungerous diwamata drenched in blood was enough to confuse it, and to its surprise, he'd cling to it as if the demon had revealed itself to be a savior.

Grimveil, though what one might consider a young diwamata, quickly grew to respect out of an astounding ability to effectively yet brutally harvest as many souls as he could. Perhaps an apathetic angel who could no longer tolerate the theatrics of showing love and compassion towards God's creation, confined to the heavens and its exhaustively spiritual antics, he would seek the underworld for a new life where at last, he could meet and toy with humanity personally. Like a wolf among sheep, humans were never once considered anything more than means to his amusement. That was, until that one day.

The man convinces Grimveil to stay with him, though in part—the diwamata was simply intrigued really, and thus goes on to teach the demon about humanity. For once, he was made to pause from his crusade of bloodshed and understand, the cycle he mindlessly furthered broken at last. Though the human's new friend had a hunger that would soon need to be satisfied, and he couldn't bear to lose the only thing he finally had, so he'd explain to Grim that he would lead him to sinners if he'd continue to stay with him. This was something that truly perplexed the diwamata's beliefs...

And so as Grim was led to kill each of the man's past aggressors and soon even others of no relation to keep his company, he eventually becomes self-aware. Yet despite being capable of any real emotion, he simply couldn't help but eventually comment about it—his whole experience forcing him to perceive the depth and nuances of humanity. Slowly through helping the man, Grim grew more and more delusional from the immersion, realizing that in his journey to eventually to eat his soul, now he doesn't want to.

However, in the man's quest to right his immoral path, this would leave Grim without souls to consume so long as he stayed by his side. Thus, a contract was proposed out of the demon's false belief of sympathy. Knowing their rather parasocial relationship was rooted in selfish means, the human would selflessly offer his soul to keep his friend for longer, naught for murder. And for a time, Grim served as a protector and the best friend the man had felt he ever had until his last breath exhaled in crimson...

Ever since his fateful run in with that human, he's taken a more curious approach to his everyday life, questioning the actions of all whom his wary gaze oversees.

Relationships; the ones most significant to him:

Mephistopheles | Partner

As the first Diwamata he had seen in ages, he didn't find himself taking particularly kindly to Mephisto in the beginning—for a reason he would later come to find out was of the fallen angel's own accord. Engaging Mepisto in a fight soon after their fateful introduction in a desolate area of Evanlos, more strange red flags would erect following his master's appearance as the Popunemytmi was clearly in possession of his halo. Upon declaring victory, it wasn't without a slight sense of pity for the mysterious Diwamata that Grim would seek to understand him better when treating his wounds, much to Mephisto's wary skepticism. Grim didn't realize, however, that ever since that day, it would mark the beginning to a long series of very chance meetings, his interest surely growing with each encounter they shared.

And it was in this interest that he would respond very rebelliously to Mephisto's subservient views toward his master, attempting to convince him to believe the joys of freedom each time. However, this stance wouldn't be taken lightly, the Popunemytmi challenging their future meeting endeavors up until the day they were caught. By then, Grim had fostered quite a bit of fondness for Mephisto and became more than willing to fight on his behalf—and fight he would attempt, except his friend would be commanded forth instead. In an unforgettable standoff before the rosette window of a church, it was then and there that Mephisto would take the step he feared most and sided with Grim, claiming a wish to leave and no longer serve. Grim's defiant words rang true when in response, yes, Azazel would honor his associate's wishes, yet at the cost of his eyes.

Following that cruel evening, the two Diwamatas would form an intimate bond thereon after, both set on enjoying the rest of their lives freely in the company of the other. Feeling as if he had fallen again, Grim was happy with this change in his own life, the experience of true companionship inspiring reflection on his old ways. Though it wouldn't put an end to his blood lustful habits,  it would give rise to a sense of greater meaning and purpose to his once barbaric way of living. He loves Mephisto dearly and finds great humor and fun in their routine antics, often doting on him and ruthless with the teasing remarks. As he is considered the "little owl" to Mephisto, Grim endearingly calls him "little dove."

Lyrosa De'laruu | "Friend"

oh man this is a wip

19537424?1702253778
Akane | acquaintance

Akane was an angel that had caught Grim's eye, and despite the hostility any demon would likely find with their kind in the mortal realm, this one was particularly... hopeless. Similar to Diwamatas, whose halo's also hold great importance to their being, an angel's is much the same. However, should one devour an angel's halo, a demon can inherit an immense amount of power—and that is exactly what Grim did, in a trade. Akane doesn't know how the Diwamata relinquished him from his bad home, having felt as if he woke from a coma in a new apartment. Nevertheless, Grim's curiosity would gain the best of him as he'd continue to visit the haloless angel—well, stalk would be more fitting. Though that stopped when he found Akane disappeared one day.

✪ Fact in spotlight

  • Surprisingly, he has quite an embarrassing track record of flying into or hitting glass walls/windows, suggesting he wasn't familiar with this particular man-made structure for a while (in heaven)—and apparently still is sometimes to this day.
  • He salivates very easily, often (and accidentally) drooling to the sight of some things or during flights of emotions; and much to most people's discomfort, he doesn't bother himself with being conscious of it either, though he may exercise a little more self control if he's showing good manners.

What does he like?

  • Pigeons; though his characteristics resemble that of an owl much more closely, they're near non-existent in Evanlos City, leaving the only friendly, feathery friends available to befriend and aliken himself to the humble little pigeon.
  • Meat and bones; horrifyingly, this isn't in reference to animal products, as humans are his main delicacy.
  • Fighting; though he'll argue there is great fun in a good game of chase, he has some admiration for those who are daring enough to fight back—especially when resistance is ultimately futile either way.

What does he dislike?

  • Azazel; Grim rarely experiences genuine agitation but knowing Azazel possesses greater strength than him and has profoundly impacted Mephisto's life, the mere mention or sight of the demon inspires immense ire in his chest.
