Story(some): A successful, renowned, and respected doctor during his time. Lived with his wife who he held dearly and dedicated all his work towards. She caught a disease that was quite new and had no cure made for it, so he turned to a dark spell book in hopes of finding something to cure her. He offered to give up himself for her. After making a deal with the figure who appeared from the book once the incantation was read, they took his wife's life and took the man's humanity and self away with it, placing a curse on him alongwith it. Instead his wife now haunts him and he is now broken pieces of a man he once was and the person who knows nothing of himself that he became after. 

Fun facts: The Doctor sees almost everything, including himself as a dark shadow-like figure. Except the vision/image/spirit of his wife, who he can see as clear as day. When he sees others as this dark, shadow-like figure, he sees them as those who need cleansing and are imperfect beings. Once he works on them after those who come to seek his help in desperate need, he turn them into what can only be explained as "monsters", yet once he does so, he sees them as a bright/light figure who has been purified and made to be their most perfect form of self. He does what he does in hopes of pleasing the spirit that haunts him (his wife), thinking it to be some deity who wants his work to be done to all in order for her to disappear. His love for her has now become his curse. He tends to have a sharp smile plastered on his face, it only goes away when strong overwhelming emotions take over.
