Tama used to be a mailwoman who brings letters to receivers in other dimensions. One day she confused a portal and ended up in the wrong dimension. Wandering around in the endless rice fields and swamps of that dimension she finally got to a huge building which turned out to be a library. She asked the librarian Anfor the receiver's address and finally she understood that she went to the wrong place. Seeing her being frustrated with her boss and job, An offered her a job at his library. From then on she started working at her new home. Handing out reminders, sorting books and bringing out the trash.
In her free time she loves to explore her new home; to find hidden rooms in the library and to float around the world in her youkai tanuki form to discover new places where she could read unperturbed. And (of course) she also fell in love with the librarian, An.
