Basil Quimby

Basil Quimby is a Great Eared Nightjar species of Aarakocra.

Once hailing from his family's estate, he has set out on a quest to prove his parents wrong and that he can be better than they are. While Basil is the technical heir to the estate, due to his status as an adopted son (his parents are not Aarakocra), he holds a grudge against his father and feels pity for the true heir. It's definitely spite though.

He (unfortunately) thinks himself to be greater than everyone around him, as he comes from a noble background. He is careless with his money and demands respect. 

Along his journey however, he is repeatedly humbled. He met some friends along the way who he later gets into trouble with. A giant lizard queen wanted to cut his friends' arms off as payback for the slaughter of their species in war, but Basil stepped up as a sacrifice/martyr and offered to have his wings removed instead. This was a moment of significant character growth for him.

He's a rogue, and uses a fancy kitchen knife that he stole from his parents' estate before leaving.
